So you're ready to send your application for National Board Certification! Awesome! Please make sure you have filled out the CE page with the CE title, topic number, CE hours, and was it live or online. We need this LAONG with your certificate copies for verification. Please also make sure the education is from our approved topics, the list is at www.apncc.org Continuing education is to assure you are staying relevant in the field. Standard facility mandated in-services, such as infection control, fire safety, etc, are not "continuing" education that helps you grow as an Activity Professional, and are not accepted toward CE requirements.

Don't lose the certification you worked hard to receive. Check your expiration date and make sure you renew on time. If you go past your renewal date, there is a late fee to renew. If you do not renew within one year of your expiration date, you will be required to start the certification process all over again and follow all criteria in place at that time. You may come back someday and we hate to see people have to start their certification journey over.

Just a reminder, when submitting your continuing education credits toward your APNCC Board Certification/re-certification, please remember that 12 of the total required CE hours must be from some form of live education. That can be in-person training with an instructor present, by zoom, a live chat, etc. The APNCC Board feels strongly that the best and retentive education is gained in a live setting, but also understands the preference by some for non-traditional forms of education that are popular today.

The APNCC would like to announce the addition of two individuals to our Board of Directors.

Lorna Mattox comes to us with 30 years of hands-on experience working in Long Term Care. She has served as President for the Arizona Association of Activity Professionals for 11 years. She brings a wealth of knowledge and insight to our profession and Board.

Anna Wellman comes to us from Tennessee with 17 years of experience in healthcare, including as a program Director and Activity Director. Anna enjoys the teaching and mentoring aspects of consulting with other Activity Professionals. She is also a Fieldwork Advisor for Belmont University's Occupational Therapy program.

The APNCC looks forward to having these ladies on our Board!

Looking for personal growth? Are you Nationally Board certified as an Activity Professional? If not, please check us out at www.apncc.org. There are PATH's available for those with all education backgrounds. You may already qualify and only need to take the comprehensive exam to become a Board Certified Activity Professional. Meets F tags 658 and 680. No course is required, per NCCA standards. However, if you have taken ANY basic activity course, there is a PATH for certification using that course. Are you keeping up with your CE credits for your certification and re-certification? Don't let that lapse as you get busy for the rest of the year. The number of CE's required depends on your certification level and can be found on our website at www.apncc.org. Twelve (12) of those hours must be from live education, either at an in-person education session or a live webinar/chat session. The topics accepted for CE credit are also located on our website.

Happy Fall y'all! I know we are all busy this time of year, but don't forget your certification goals and renewals. If you have any questions, feel free to call us at 303-317-5682. Don't let your renewal lapse. Even if you leave the field, you may come back in the future and we have seen over and over people who let their certification lapse and had to start over with it later. The APNCC follows NCCA accreditation standards including not requiring any specific course and we offer no education. No Board member or associate teaches any activity related course, in keeping with NCCA standards. APNCC certification is also recognized by CMS under F tags 658 and 680.
