Summer International Study Tour: Culture and Agriculture in Benin Benin is a small country in West Africa with a rich cultural and historical heritage.
The purpose of this study program is to introduce students to this fascinating region. Much of the trip will be devoted to learning about the history of the ancient kingdom of Danxomé, its connection to the West African slave trade and its religious traditions, notably voodoo. They're back! Welcome home, 2014 Benin study group!
News from the Benin Travelers! They were in Parakou yesterday, spent the night in Dassa and partied with the lions, hippos and buffaloes! Hopefully not in the same space......
The latest word from Benin is that all is well, they were having a major thunderstorm, and heading up country where there is little internet coverage!
So far, the tour has been just busy enough! Returning from a visit to Porto Novo, the missing luggage arrived -- intact -- and a day on the beach was enjoyed before trotting off for pizza and an evening at Yes Papa!
