Bish Power Pitching and Hitting
Fast-pitch Instructor
I started this page many years ago to promote and celebrate the great game of softball 🥎
This post today ranks up there as one of my favorite shares ☺️🏆
My children go to school with most of these girls and my daughter has had them as teammates! They are representing themselves so well on this WORLD 🌎 stage and we are all excited and proud of each one of them! Good luck 🍀 today!!!
In case you missed it, Indiana, PA (East) defeated Kirkland, WA (Washington D9) yesterday in the quarterfinal game of the Junior League Softball World Series by a score of 5-3!
Indiana advances to the semifinals today and faces off against Central (Poland, OH) at 1 PM PT (4:00 PM ET)!
Good luck ladies!
🚨Attention🚨
If you are searching for a softball pitching coach, I give my highest recommendation for Coach Olivia!
My own daughter has been a pitching student of hers for months and I saw with my own eyes how Coach Olivia taught my daughter a change-up and curve.
I give ALL the credit to Coach Olivia for being able to reach and teach Daelyn, my daughter, to confidently pitch a change-up in a game!!
I realized I needed help- I hope others can understand that being the only instructor to my teenage daughter was becoming a little hard!😂
So it was Coach Olivia to the rescue 🛟!!
She is a great role model for the youth in the game. She is young enough to relate to them and build a bond that is necessary for trust and learning. She is up to date with tools, drills, and exercises that the girls are doing today.
She knows what she is doing and is worth checking out 💯

Thank you, Coach Rich LeViere! 🖤💛🥎

2024 Rule Changes
6-1-2c, 2-47 — The pitcher may now have both feet off the ground at the same time as long as both feet remain within the 24-inch width of the pitcher's plate and the pitcher does not replant the pivot foot. A definition for a replant was added.
The new rules:
2-47 REPLANT A replant of the pivot foot occurs when the pitcher pushes off the playing surface from anywhere other than the pitcher’s plate prior to the act of delivering the pitch.
6-1-2c While pushing off from the pitcher's plate, both feet may be disengaged from the playing surface as long as they remain within the 24-inch width of the pitcher's plate and do not create a replant of the pivot foot resulting in the pitcher being farther away from the pitcher’s plate. Pushing off with the pivot foot from a place other than the pitcher's plate resulting in the non-pivot foot becoming closer to home plate is illegal.
NOTE: 1. It is not a step if the pitcher slides a foot in any direction on the pitcher's plate, provided contact is maintained.
Just starting to learn the leap✈️
Pivot foot slides- hard to see without pitching plate.

Also- practice idea 💡- sometimes pitch from a longer distance- here at 43 feet. When you move in to 40- it will feel good, like throwing gas ⛽️
Are you going to try it?
🚨Pitching Tool Alert🚨
Turn up the volume to hear 👂 the tool at work!
My own daughter is using the PitchSqueak for accelerated learning and instant feedback of brush trigger...AKA brush interference...AKA brush contact...which is critical for producing a beautiful whip release.
I have used the terms:
Nose behind the belly button
Shoulders up/back
Be/stay tall
Tuck your tail/butt in
Butt under your hips…because if they lean over, their arm will detach from the body (space) and they will muscle the ball in with just their upper body, using only HALF of their strength-plus their release point will be inconsistent.
ALSO, I use these quick phases to emphasize how the arm path must be consistently in tight:
Pull down at the same time and give yourself a hug
Feel the breeze/brush-burn past your ear…
And I’ve even put them against the dreaded WALL to do their arm circles, all in hopes they stay on track and keep their arm circles tight to their body.
This provides instant proof- that they can hear- if their body mechanics are correct ☺️

To brush or not to brush, that is the question.
If it squeaks, you'll have your answer.

GOD is with her and she will not fail!!!
Keep going, Paige- we are all proud of you 👏
HUGE shout out to her TRAVEL SOFTBALL TEAM for their AMAZING SUPPORT and not giving up on her ♥️🥎
GOD is up to something good here- remember he always has a plan for you!
More great advice!
Player's, Coaches & Parents, Emotion is your enemy.
It will pull you in the opposite direction of where you actually want to be, which is CALMLY RIGHT IN THE MOMENT.
Whether or not you like Robinson Cano or Jeter does not matter, the point here is that you have just learned a golden nugget of info from 2 top players that competed in the highest level of baseball.
Baseball is a game where the mind is so important. Emotions get in the way of how we think and create fog. This in turn has an effect on performance.
TIP: Mental Calmness is Strength.
Great advice!
Another example of leaping.
Leaping is now legal. Here’s an extreme example to show your daughters-
It is the future.
It’s about that time of year to focus on being Thankful, Grateful, Selfless and Giving-
And nothing is better than a “SACRIFICE BUNT”
to check off all those boxes! 💯♥️🥎
Wishing all my Softball friends a Happy and Healthy Holiday Season! 🦃🎄
Sports is 90% Mental.
The other half is Physical😜
Strengthen your mental muscles 💪
What Is the Crab Mentality?
Did you know: If you put one crab in a bucket, it can claw its way up and out and return to the wild?
But when you put a bunch of crabs in a bucket something interesting happens:
If one of them tries to climb out, the rest pull it back into the bucket. 😳
Maybe that’s why they are called “Cancer🦀”
Further, if the crab tries to climb out a second time, the other crabs gang up on the crab again and may actually begin to break its claws to completely hinder its progress. This means that none of the crabs end up escaping because they are all working against each other.
The phrase “If I can’t have it, neither can you” best describes the “crabs in a bucket” mentality. Similar to crabs, humans try to break other people's spirits when they see someone else is on their way to success.
👉When people with crab mentality see others around them advancing, they subconsciously (or even consciously) reach out to hold them back.
They do what they can to hinder progress, or even stop the person from simply trying to succeed. People with the crab mentality feel insecure when they see other people improve, and assume that they are failing because other people are succeeding.
The common phrase “misery loves company” is very true, and can be seen in these types of situations. It is a proverb that suggests that people who are miserable can handle their own problems better if those around them are miserable too.
This phrase is typically used when observing toxic people giving grief to someone else. People who are miserable want those around them to be miserable as well. Therefore, when they see someone getting ahead, they want to pull them back down.
Examples in Sports:
A good example here is when you get a well-deserved “promotion”, but crabs pull you down by implying you didn’t get it fairly.
This may be especially true if you suddenly have a better position than the rest of the crabs because they can feed off of each other to try to tear you down.
Or maybe you’re working on improving your “opportunities”, but the crabs impede your path by belittling your plan.
Another example is when crabs spread nasty lies about you or other people. “Crabs prefer to break other people down to make them look good.”
10 SIGNS of CRAB MENTALITY
1. Envy: People with a crab mentality often feel envious of others' achievements and success.
2. Negative Comments: They frequently make negative comments or criticisms about others, especially when they see them doing well.
3. Undermining: They may actively work to undermine the efforts or opportunities of those around them.
4. Sabotage: People with a crab mentality might secretly sabotage others' chances for success or advancement.
5. Gossip: They engage in gossip and rumor-spreading to tarnish others' reputations.
6. Lack of Support: Instead of offering support or encouragement, they discourage and demotivate others.
7. Discouragement: They often downplay the importance of goals and aspirations, discouraging those who are trying to achieve them.
8. Relishing in Failures: They take satisfaction in the misfortunes or failures of others.
9. Competition Over Collaboration: Crab mentality fosters a competitive rather than a collaborative environment.
10. Resistance to Change: They resist changes and innovations that could lead to progress, preferring the status quo.
