Thank you, God, for family and friends! During the Christmas holidays I was asked to house-sit for one of my cousins (who happens to hold titles such as Australia's fastest drummer) and decided to get creative in Ableton while he and his wife were overseas. Once they returned, and I moved back to my place, I handed over the track to Richie 'earfingers' (check out his tunes here https://on.soundcloud.com/djyTd) who got busy adding effects and tackled the mastering stage.
