Amazing night .gc โค๏ธ โจ๏ธ
I've been eagerly waiting to share about the tuna masterclass I attended last week at in Burleigh! Despite a busy week with work and family visits, I finally have time tonight to post these pictures, and I hope they convey just what an incredible night it was. ๐
Thank you to John and Eileen for the invitation to this special event, where we experienced a 30kg bluefin tuna masterclass. The chef demonstrated the different parts of the tuna and then served us an abundance of delicious dishes!! ๐
How many ways can you prepare tuna? Let me tell you, there are many! I will definitely sign up again for this amazing experience. If they host this event again, I highly recommend attending!
It's great to have my foodie buddy Bevin by my side to hoover up my leftovers!! ๐
Just had some incredible pizza and treats at the new spot in Florida Garden, Broadbeach Waters! ๐ ๐ ๐

Michael and Petra have transformed what used to be a Serbian restaurant, and it looks fantastic!
Open space, extra room for big groups/parties, and a nice big pizza oven in the kitchen. The quality is very high, and the food is amazing! ๐
Stick with the classics like a Margarita, or try one of Michael's creative dishes, like this pumpkin and prosciutto masterpiece (see first photo). Locals, you won't be disappointed! ๐
Thanks so much for having us in!
Oh, and Peroni on tap! ๐บ

Oishi desu!
A friend observed me preparing a meal for myself one day, appreciating the way I carefully plated it before sitting down to eat. They said, "The way you present your food, especially when it's just for yourself, is a form of self-love," and that really resonated with me. ๐งก
For me, the act of cooking and then savouring or sharing the meal holds a certain ritualistic significance.
I ADMIT, I can get a little messy in the kitchen, and some have attempted to rein in this aspect of my cooking style rather than embracing it. ๐
However, food serves as my love language, and when I prepare a meal for you, understand that I'm offering a piece of myself for your enjoyment. ๐
The mess can always be tidied up, but the emotion behind this act of giving, whether for others or for myself, should never be underestimated. ๐
I hope your love for sharing meals brings you joy and a sprinkle of creative fun, just like my happy love language feasts do! ๐

Thank you to the owner, Joel, for your hospitality, food, and kindness at .southport ๐
In the middle of all this humidity, I decided to rock the wonton and broth game.
It's super tasty, and I'm having a blast trying out different flavours. Shoutout to my favourite locally made garlic chilli oil โ it's the secret sauce for the extra kick in my broth!

Recently, while discussing Mexican cuisine with friends, we concluded that finding excellent Mexican food can be challenging. Having never been to Mexico myself, gauging authenticity is tough, so I can only rely on flavours and personal preferences. ๐ฎ
I visited on the Gold Coast after a few years, and on Christmas Eve, the service was outstanding, accompanied by a satisfying margarita. ๐
Nevertheless, the dishes were somewhat lacking in ample sauce or distinctive flavours. I am eager to revisit and delve into more menu options, given the overall high quality. While the slow-cooked pork and well-fried soft-shell crab were commendable, I found myself anticipating the next bite for the promised sauce and seasoning, only to be left a bit dry and unsatisfied. Hopefully, the next visit brings a more flavorful experience! ๐ ๐ธ
We tend to find ourselves at for breakfast when down in that area!
The pleasant service and comfortable lounge make it a delightful spot for enjoying breakfast and watching dogs stroll by. ๐ ๐ โค๏ธ
The dishes at Ichimei proved to be quite tasty. The seafood was both fresh and delicious! โค๏ธ
A joyful birthday dinner for my Dad, despite his tendency to downplay it and play the role of a birthday grinch. ๐
Starting my Tasmanian journey, we visited St Albi's in Moonah, celebrating Nanny's 91st birthday with a delightful lunch featuring well-executed pub classics. โจ๏ธ
We chose to share the slow-cooked lamb special, served with duck fat potatoes and a beetroot, rocket, and pine nut salad, along with calamari and delightful three cheese arancini ballsโa change from my usual preferences. ๐
While the calamari might lean towards a milder flavour, overall, it was a thoroughly enjoyable meal. ๐
The atmosphere was fun, and the service was impeccable. It's now a regular spot for Mum and me whenever I'm in town! ๐ฅณ
I've chosen to expand my reviews beyond just my favourite dining spots, aiming to share my experiences comprehensively. โจ๏ธ
Despite frequently dining out and investing substantially in these experiences, it's disheartening when expectations are unmet. ๐
Kicking off the new year, I'm sharing my first less-than-positive review. ๐ฃ
On my recent visit to Tassie, my family and I called into Robbie Browns at Kingston Beach after a beautiful beach walk in the stunning weather! ๐
Hoping for a tasty meal and a refreshing drink, we encountered sluggish service despite the minimal number of guests and staff present. Taking at least 30 minutes to get any service after being seated!
Once we managed to hail down a waiter, there wasn't any interest in explaining the seafood sharing plate to us, i.e., what type of seafood was on it.
We went ahead and ordered the $65 Seafood Sharing plate, and unfortunately, our regret deepened as we received dry and over-fried battered fish, shrivelled calamari, and lacklustre lemon wedges that were dry aged. The hot chips were below par, definitely reheated. The smoked salmon lacked the expected freshness. Despite sharing feedback, the server surprisingly expressed hope for our return. Given the price tag and the location, better quality was anticipated.
A thumbs down from Hey Carly. ๐

It's been a long time since I was satisfied with the GC Mex food scene! I rarely indulge or share about it because it often lacks flavour and ends up just being a taco drowned in hot sauce. ๐
However, was a real treat!
While calamari might not be the most authentic Mexican dish, its deliciousness is undeniable! ๐
I also really loved the haloumi and black bean tacos! ๐ฎ
Plus, the $10 Sunday margs and $5 beers are a definite reason for my return! Yum! ๐ธ

It's a great cafe overlooking the Broadwater, right next door to the swimming pools in Southport.
We enjoyed the smashed avo and eggs, with homemade pickled onions (yum!) But the highlight dish was the pork belly Cassoulet (last photo) - a rich, slow-cooked casserole filled with Pork Belly, Chorizo and White Beans, topped with Poached Eggs and Sourdough Toast. (Exchanged for GF toast). ๐
Next time, I'm going to order that one too!
My tasting morsels just weren't enough!
