WWB Open Garden
Private garden open for charity in Rossendale.
Things are moving along nicely, but still lots to do to be ready for the Open Weekend on 25th and 26th May.
It was a bit of a blow to get a hard frost over the weekend to find damage to the young leaves on the Actinidia and beautiful colour on the many Pieris shrubs around the garden. Hey ho, that's gardening for you 😕. They will recover 🌻
Frustrating weather again today - will it, won't it?
What the heck, get out there anyway.
Super day - dry, warm sunshine encouraging the birds, bees and plants to get busy! I was just clearing up at 6 o'clock and it started to shower 🌧. I can cope with that 😀🌻
Well, if you haven't looked outside recently, it's chucking it down - again, or should that be - still!! Even I don't garden in this weather :-(
Time, I think, to update progress on the plans for Open Garden Weekend. This will be on Sat 25th & Sun 26th May (late May Bank holiday weekend) and all funds raised will go to the RNLI, who are celebrating and commemorating those wonderful volunteers who have served their communities over the past 200 years. And looking to the future for the next 200 years of lifesaving.
We look forward to meeting lots of lovely people who will join us between 11am and 4pm each day, to look round our garden, meet old friends and make new ones, enjoy tea and cake, buy plants and generally relax. If you've not been before, there's lots to see.
Entrance fee is £5 per person, which includes tea/coffee and a biscuit. Cake and plants for sale.
It's been a cracking day! I've spent the afternoon painting the treads on both bridges in preparation for fixing more anti-slip grippers. Didn't get to the gazebo, but hope to finish that tomorrow. Maybe get some actual gardening done too 😃.
Happy Easter everyone. 🐣🐥
The weather is a bit confusing just lately, but preparation goes on in spite of it. The wet days need planning, with seed sowing, potting up etc. Fine, even sunny, days are busy with tidying, weeding and planting. Painting the gazebo is beginning to feel like the Forth Bridge, dodging showers! 😃
It was rather 'damp' this morning, but work progressed on preparing the garden for the Open Weekend at the end of May.
The Hellebore are looking beautiful.
Well, it's been a bit damp, so not managed to finish painting the gazebo. Happy sowing veg and flower seeds and looking forward to some warmer weather.
Another beautiful day!
I got busy painting the gazebo - didn't finish, but I'm pleased with the new look 😀.
Our friendly helpers are happy to welcome you to our Open Garden Weekend.
After over 20 years of opening the garden for charity, I decided it was time to promote it on social media! 🌻
