The OS Art Fest is cancelled due to inclement weather. This is disappointing, however, since I'm all ready for the show, I'll have an "OPEN STUDIO" at my art studio this Sunday Oct.2nd from 10am-4pm. All are welcome to stop by! I have some small works, cards, gifts, and large paintings. Studio is at 6 Orchard Lane Old Saybrook. I'll probably have some hot cider too. Art News:

Looking back on 2022 so far, it has been a year of transformations for me. Loss and tragedy, challenges, conflicts, and ultimately personal growth and a bit of clarity.

I’ve been ruminating about what direction I want to move toward and what I’d like to accomplish on my time here on earth. I have been quietly concentrating on my goals and dreams. What does my next chapter hold?

I have been thinking for some time about opening my own “artist residency center”. A place for artists to create, grow, and thrive. To simplify, it’s similar to an Inn, but with a large, fully functional studio space. Some years back I worked in management & administration at an amazing artist residency center here in Connecticut called I-Park, a very special facility in East Haddam. I have worked as an artist, with artists, and for artists but, I have never attended an artist residency myself. A few months ago, I decided that I should start applying for residencies in order to experience some of them firsthand. To really decide if I want to make a commitment to this idea.

Since finding some “Greek” in my dna test, a visit to the Greek islands has been on my bucket list. So, when I found an artist residency on a Greek island I thought “How perfect!”. I was blown away and decided on a whim to make my first application to SkopArt Artist Residency in Skopelos Greece. There are only about 60 artists from around the world accepted per year, and I never thought I would actually get it. Amazingly, I have been awarded a 3 week residency in Sept/Oct of 2023!

Not only that, a special bonus is- I encouraged my dear friend and fellow artist Jolene Dames to apply and she has been accepted as well. We have been granted the same time slot. I think because it is so remote and somewhat rugged, they liked that we would travel together for the experience.

To say I am so grateful is an understatement. I am absolutely over the moon to be offered this amazing opportunity! Now to wait a year… xo Andria

I've entered a few local exhibits lately. "Rocky Coast" was juried into the True Blue show at the Lyme Art Association on exhibit until Sept.22nd. Also, "Green Wave" and "Feeling Crabby" are in the open show "Force of Nature" at the Essex Art Association until Sept. 16th, please come for the closing reception Sept.16th 5-8pm!
