American Cedar and Millwork was thrilled to host our inaugural event for interior designers at our Millersville showroom on Thursday evening. Kristin Baldwin McCarra kicked things off with a warm welcome and an overview of our Kitchen and Bath design services, followed by a lively happy hour and networking session.

We were joined by ten prominent regional suppliers: Bentley Mills (Carpet), Bright Light Design (Lighting), TruStile (Doors), Grothouse (Wood Countertops), Fabricut (Fabrics), Sew Beautiful (Window Coverings), WindsorOne, SubZero Wolf, Conestoga Tile, and Cambria.

Each had displays at the event and engaged with attendees, while also contributing fantastic raffle prizes.

A heartfelt thank you to the architects who joined us for the American Cedar and Cavity Slider event at the New Zealand Embassy last week. The embassy was a wonderful host, embodying true Kiwi hospitality. We were honored to have the Ambassador open the event and provide a personal tour, followed by delightful cocktails, lamb sliders, and New Zealand-inspired appetizers.

Dave Baldwin, in collaboration with Patuxent Renovations, has successfully completed a notable commercial renovation at the McDonogh School in Owings Mills, Maryland—a prestigious college preparatory day school established in 1873. The project focused on the Louis E. Lamborn Memorial Field House, a tribute to alumni who sacrificed their lives for their country.
The renovation featured a range of high-quality materials, including Marvin Clad Ultimate commercial doors with a custom 1 1/8” SDL bar layout and commercial hardware preparations. The project also included Frontline custom radius units with triangular direct glaze windows, matching Marvin SDL profiles, and a mix of Exterior Flex Trim casings, custom historic PVC trims, and stock profiles. Additional elements included Spectis fluted urethane pilasters and interior custom historic Poplar molding profiles with Flex Trim casing. Hydrogap self-adhered flashing was applied over plywood sheathing and structural framing. The hardware was supplied by Von Duprin, with electrified panic hardware from Top Notch. Patuxent Renovations handled both the installation and carpentry services for the project.

This tranquil deck, situated by Lake Gaston in North Carolina, was custom-built for a homeowner to enjoy the breathtaking surroundings. Lake Gaston spans 20,300 acres of water and boasts over 350 miles of shoreline, straddling the Virginia/North Carolina border between Interstates 85 and 95.

The deck features Timbertech & AZEK decking in Coastline and French White Oak hues, providing an ideal outdoor sanctuary to savor fresh air and spectacular sunsets. Emanuel Gomez is the sales representative.

This contemporary kitchen remodel in Edgewater, MD, crafted by Creative Spaces Remodeling and designed by Kristin Baldwin McCarra of American Cedar & Millwork, showcases Crystal Encore frameless series cabinets featuring the Danbury door style. The design incorporates a blend of finishes: premium alder in White Washed with brown highlights, Frosty White paint, and Denim paint for the island, creating a vibrant interplay of colors. The addition of a matching hood above the oven adds a touch of elegance, seamlessly integrating with the cabinetry.

Designed with meticulous organization in mind, this kitchen caters to the needs of the discerning chef. It boasts a spice drawer, concealed trash and recycle bins, a silverware organizer, pull-out pan drawers, and a pull-out lazy susan, ensuring everything has its designated place for effortless organization.

The Merriweather District in Columbia, Maryland, is now home to The Blackwall Barn & Lodge, an upscale dining establishment that falls under the Titan Hospitality Group umbrella. This distinctive venue offers County residents an unparalleled space for hosting special events, connecting with colleagues and friends, and enjoying dining experiences surrounded by a blend of comfort and rustic elegance.

Collaborating with Herman Stewart Construction, David Baldwin provided Marvin Ultimate Clad, Black, fixed windows, Signature Custom White Oak doors, a 10’ x 10’ double pivot entry, three additional entry units, and materials such as Nichiha siding, Boral trim, Boral tongue and groove soffit, and Western Red Cedar fencing. The incorporation of custom radius brackets adds a unique touch to the overall design.
