While I love how linear and balanced a yoga practice is, sometimes it's nice to 'throw the body' around in non uniform, unexpected and exploratory ways.
Come join me for a Chakra Dance where you'll spend time with each chakra and move symbolically as that quality. For example, think stomping your feet on the Earth for the base, flowing fluidly through the hips for the second charka and so on.
If you're not a dancer, perfect! Think of it as a moving meditation. If you love dancing then you'll love this experience.

Mark your diary! September 17th (to celebrate the Spring Equinox & the coming of the sun and warmth 😎)

Our Teacher Trainees have a little assignment to do to get their poses looking πŸ‘Œ.
Take some 'yoga selfies' and check your lines in the postures.
I highlighted the lines here that can also be used as verbal cues.
Eg reach one long line between the foot and the hands.
When teaching & demonstrating the saying 'a picture is worth a thousand words' has never been more true.
As students we take in 65% of the info visually so this is an important exercise.
Naturally, we all express the pose differently but as teachers it's important that they look as close to the finished product as possible.
What do you think?
In my teaching experience, I have scratched somewhere and people have copied me, unconsciously. Students copy everything! So I think it's an important one.
I'd love your opinion though.

Our next intake for our 200hr Yoga Training starts 22nd Oct! That's soon!
DM me for more info or with questions you are wondering. It's a game changing experience and we'd love to share it with you.

Woo hoo! We booked our Bali flights! I'm so excited to get back there plus enjoy a little holiday. I've been busy! πŸ˜…
Another oldie but a goodie from 2018 😍.

I had covid. Which is interesting. (Health report below - doing fineπŸ˜‰ )
Most interestingly to me is that I've been TRYING to get covid (omicron) whenever I had a window in our calendar this year. Timing was crucial with such a full schedule.
After all that trying, nothing.
Yet only days after Neesha (our Husky) passing, there it was, heavy and tight on my chest.
Why interesting, you say?
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the lungs represent grief and sadness. Yeah that makes sense.
I remember learning this back in my Shiatsu course in 2003 and have done some inner work to clear this while strengthening my lungs & lung channel.
I rarely get colds. I can't remember the last one. Michael and Maia were both sick with the flu a month back. I didn't get it.
Neesha dies and next minute. Grief, sadness and covid.

Sure, we are always trying to make sense of what's is going on in life. The mind trying to rationalize and find reasons why. 'A person's search for meaning' and all. Really, every second person has it at the moment. It's a pandemic, Vanessa. Yeah I know. Perhaps I had too much time on my hands and too much brain fog to think clearly. The timing is just... interesting. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

I had to postpone the Yin training, with everyone very understanding and kind. (Sept 9-11, if you'd like a second chance!)

Michael got it too. We both had a tough few hours with body aches like nothing else, but are doing well, thank you. Wishing robust health to all those struggling with this right now too. Big huge, illegal hugs to you.

If you really knew me, you'd know that I love beauty. In so many ways - nature, clothes, decor, humans, photos and jewellery to name a few. 😍😍😍
(The Venus is strong in this one πŸ˜‚ - see a few posts back)
I love nature & pretty things so flowers are a little bit of heaven for me. πŸ’
The Carnival of Flowers seemed like a must do on a local spring holiday. Wow.

Proof that I am a 70's baby!
I turn 50 this month so am taking a little reflective time and thought I'd share more of myself with you all here. πŸ˜…
Ah the 70's (Think Stranger Things era without the Upside Down). Endless afternoons bike riding & playing with neighbourhood besties.Β  Mum's simple instruction - be home before dark. Climbing trees, hopscotch & knunkles. Sliding down grassy hill on a piece of cardbord. (Was that Bribie Is?) Oh the spills that happened! I don't even think baby car seats had been invented. Mum said she popped my on a sheepie on the car floor or something! πŸ€ͺ
Flares & lapels for days. Mum's home made clothes were always stylishily en pointe. My first record - Madonna (ok that was the 80's).
I'm celebrating birthday month and promise to be a little more sharing of myself here.Β  I hope it's not too self indulgent. But screw it, it's my birthday month and this is how I'm celebrating!πŸ₯³
That's me, the baby on the left at my Christening or something (though I'm not religious). Mum made my brothers safari suit (front row). All those outfits - sooooo 70's! 🀣
