This Saturday June 15th was the June Volunteer Gardening Day Rose 🌹 Garden. The order of the day was watering, planting some more new roses, and deadheading. Jessica brewed up some of her special alfalfa tea, which was greatly appreciated by the roses. Thanks so much to Erin, Joel, Jessica, Christopher, and Justin for their efforts. Despite the extremely warm weather, a marvelous time was had by all!

Today’s Rose 🌹is the ENGLISH SHRUB:
ELIZABETH
3-4 inch light pink blooms come in small and large clusters and as occasional singles. Strong, old rose/sweet fragrance with hints of lemon 🍋. Very full (40+ petals, with rosette bloom form. Apple 🍏 green semi-matte foliage. Reaches a height of 4.5-5 feet tall x 3.5 feet wide. Disease-resistant and will grow in partially shaded areas. Shown here in zone 8b. Today was the April Volunteer Gardening Day Rose 🌹 Garden. The order of the day was fertilizing, planting a few new roses, staking some top heavy growers, and spreading worm 🪱 castings throughout the garden. Thanks so much to GARS members Erin Rogers and Christopher Huffer for their tremendous efforts. There was a steady stream of visitors all morning to the garden all admiring the flowers. It was a marvelous Spring morning in the garden 🪴!

Cindy Dale 👑 Master Rosarian and Deep South District Director of the American Rose Society, has grown roses since 1995 and has 285 roses at her residence. She has won countless awards and titles at ARS Shows including National Hybrid Tea Queen and King at the 2023 National Rose Show. She has also received the ARS Silver Honer Medal as well. Cindy will help us prepare for the upcoming Atlanta Rose Show held on Mother’s Day weekend by covering the basics and more of exhibiting in the Horticulture Division of ARS rose shows.

Yesterday was the Greater Atlanta Rose 🌹 Society Pruning Clinic/Volunteer Gardening Day rose garden. Despite the chilly weather conditions, a great time was had by all. Master Rosarian Bobbie Reed of GARS gave an insightful demonstration on the art of rose pruning. Consulting Rosarians Jessica Jordan and Christopher Huffer also provided hands on instruction and answered gardening questions. The entire garden has been pruned and is now ready for Spring. Thanks so much to everyone who attended the event and for their hard work in the garden.
