Pacific Ringers
Community handbell ensemble dedicated to creating a safe learning environment for ringers. Open to c
Pacific Ringers is a Portland-based, non-audition, community handbell ensemble. We are musicians with a desire to ring at our highest potential and to ring with others of similar passion for the instrument. We strive to create a supportive environment where learning and tackling musical challenges is encouraged and growing together as a community of ringers is fun.
Our concert program from last weekend. Many thanks to our supporters, our wonderful audiences, a talented list of composers/arrangers and, big kudos to our wonderful, hardworking ensemble of handbell musicians.
Ah, the memories are showing up. The last photo of the mighty 5 was from 2010 or 2011. This is from 2013. Indeed we grew. Lots of fine people and excellent musicians here. 🥰
Pacific Ringers 8 years ago. My, how we’ve grown! Thank you to all who’ve believed and supported us. Totally worth it!

We are saddened by the loss of Felux Thompson, an icon of handbell musicianship. Our heart goes out to Martha Lynn and their extended family.
We are saddened to learn of the passing of George Felix Thompson, 86, who died yesterday, October 23, 2022. He is survived by his wife, Martha Lynn, who wrote, "I was with him when his spirit returned to God about 11 o'clock last night. His struggle is over, and he is at peace." From 1970 to 2002, he served as minister of music at St. James United Methodist Church, where he built an extensive choral and handbell program. He was a member of and active for many years in Handbell Musicians of America. A celebration of his life will be held later at St. James. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Thompson Scholarship at St. James. We at HMA remember his years of faithful service to his church, music, and handbells, and our thoughts and prayers are with Martha Lynn and all of their family and friends.
At Pacific Ringers we believe in learning, stretching our skills and getting to know fellow handbell musicians. We are proud of our own Maggie Dickerson, Sharon Ross and Nate Sanders who attended Distinctly Bronze West last weekend m.
Important facts we should know!! 😊😳
🗓📖🌎 1955 the first edition of the Guinness Book of Records was published in Britain. In 1975 Northampton Grammar School handbell ringers rang for 17 hours to break to Guinness World Record. However within weeks another group rang for two hours longer so the Northampton Grammar School handbell ringers had a second attempt, ringing this time for 24 hours and entering the Guinness Book of Records

We agree.
"If we are really serious about communicating with one another, about knowing ourselves through our neighbors -- in short, about peaceful civilization -- then we can never overestimate the good that comes from artistic communication. When we touch one another through music, we are touching the heart, the mind, and the spirit, all at once."
-Leonard Bernstein, 1963

End of the season confab. They voted overwhelmingly to have personal workshops this summer so they can know more. What’s not to love about this lovely bunch o’coconuts?!!
First in-person concerts since 2019 are in the rear view mirror! One happy ensemble . One gratified artistic director.
Although the tour this time missed Oregon (but only by a few hundred miles) you will think yourself a genius if you attend any of these concerts.
Are you a handbell musician? Well worth watching their bell handling. Ya never know what you might learn!!
Another wonderful ringing of Hallelujah. 😊❤️🎶👏👏👏
