I had to share this portrait because it's SO STUNNING 🥰 This mama commissioned me to create a mother/daughter piece and her vision was fairies. The feel of their annual session is different every year and I've loved them all. This year I heard "whimsy", ran with it and my jaw is dropping. They are drop dead gorgeous and it's a showstopper!

Birthday Princess! This beauty became a client when she was 4 months old. We do annual birthday session and I love seeing how she's grown up from year to year.

Bibbidi bobbidi... WOW! 💕 Guess what's coming back to Studio James this June?? Yes, our magical and oh so stunning PRINCESS Sessions!! I wish I'd taken a video of how excited this beauty was when she arrived at the studio - she was buzzing! And her eyes and smile got even bigger when she saw the dresses. The best, for me, was how her confidence soared when I showed her the back of my camera and she saw herself. What an incredible experience for a little girl...

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY 🌸 Give yourselves an extra pat on the back today, mamas - YOU DESERVE IT. Being a parent isn't for the faint of heart. My little monkeys have taught me so much about love, and I am in awe of my parents since becoming one. How did they raise 4 kids??!

This might be a faux pas thing to say in Calgary, but I wonder if this little man is dreaming of the Riders winning the Grey Cup (or maybe he's a Stamps fan) 🥰

You're never rushed at Studio James Photography - we work on kid time. This gorgeous little man needed a little extra time in his session (with lots of breaks to play) but you'd never know it from what we photographed! He's going to have a beautiful storybook as well as stunning portraits with his mom and grandparents. Also, were trains in this year's story? NOPE! But they were in 2020 and I brought them out when I found out he loved cars! He proudly lined them all up and, boom (or should I say "click"), we got our cover shot! What a sweetie 😍

Sister love = Christmas Magic. True joy shows up in images when kids are having fun! And what's more fun than bounding on the bed? Amazing curls flying in the air, bright eyes, authentic smile... this action shot is pure magic.

Who's got a beard that's long and white?? Santa's got a beard that's long and white! I absolutely LOVE the tradition that these amazing grandparents have built with their grandchildren. This is my 6th year of photographing this beautiful bunch, and they are always so full of joy and holiday magic.

Falling asleep on Christmas Eve is the HARDEST when you're a kid! Good thing, Jolly, the elf, "helped out" by bringing some magical instruments down from the North Pole! Oh what fun!! 🎄 And, of course, it's all been captured in our Christmas Magic holiday photos!

Creating new traditions... It was so fun meeting this beautiful family at our Christmas Magic sessions this year! The girls did whole storybook experience, big bro hopped in a few photos and then we got the whole family! It was a blast!

Watching families grow is my favourite! When I first started photographing this gorgeous crew, big sister was wearing smaller jammies than her little sister is now! That was a long time ago... but it seems like it passed in the blink of an eye!

Sometimes a little extra Christmas Magic is needed and a tiny baby, with all his newborn snuggles, is an amazing early Christmas gift. At just over 2.5 weeks old, this little man might be my youngest Christmas Magic-er ever. Isn't he the sweetest?! 🥰🎄🎁

I have photographed this family every year of our Christmas Magic photo sessions - every year of this little girl's life, actually. So incredible and I'm always honoured that families choose to come to my studio for their holiday magic. Our goal is always to help you give your kids the magic of the season, so, as they grow, they carry that Christmas love, sparkle and magic into their lives.

Oh my gosh... when these 3 started coming to my Christmas Magic sessions they were pretty wee. Now they're growing up! Time passes in a blink. Their mama is smart to hang portraits of them every Christmas. What a holiday treat to unpack years of memories and use them to decorate your home 😍

Up late editing these super adorable Christmas Magic images and I just HAD to share! Aren't these kiddos gorgeous???

Every year we come up with magical images and I can never decide which I like best. All of our images have magical sparkles but, this year, we also light up Christmas lights, add dreams of sugarplums and candies, see Santa and his sleigh, and we MEET AN ELF! Gah, the images of the kiddos meeting their friendly North Pole are so cute - pure excitement and joy - but they are more rectangular so harder to share online. Guess you'll just have to book your own session to see them!

Calgary has been having a warm November, but it's 100% Christmas at Studio James 🎄 We play, we giggle, we laugh, we smile. Our Christmas Magic photo sessions are Fun with a capital F!
