Sale and District CycleKarts

Just a quick introduction.

I have been interested in all sorts of motorvehicles over my half century of life. I love vintage machinery, old boats, cars and motorcycles. I have begun restoring a1969 Yamaha motorcycle, but in doing so, I discovered cycle carts!

My name is Matthew, and I want to build up a community of like minded mechanical enthusiasts in and around Sale in Victoria (3850). Old bikes, boats, cars and the like, but the main focus on 1920s styled cyclecarts. Cyclecarts, cyclekarts, I dunno nor care how to spell the word, as long as word gets out and people join in on the fun. The first event I hope could be a desplay stall at a Sunday market or something. Or at the Port of Sale if boating people have steam or vintage powered couter/launch style boats in their sheds.

It would be nice to see repurposed hit and miss motors in carts and boats too, or, even motorcycles! I have seen a German fellow pop a clunky old single cylinder motor and flywheel on a motorcycle, very interesting vehicle.

Anyway, proposed classes of vehicles would be obviously carts/cars, boats, motorcycles, bicycles, all with steam engines, hit and miss engines, modern postie bike engines, vintage engines of any type, and modern stationary engines. Home built super cars too would be welcome. I would love to build a supercar with a transverse Holden six from the Epica mounted behind the drivers seat for rear wheel drive.

Anyway, I will probably start on a cyclecart project looking like a 1930s racer using sub 200cc Lifan motor and postie bike wheels. Apparantly they work best for cyclecarts. And a hit-N-Miss river cruising boat would be another project I would love. African Queen style!

So, there it is. I am putting my hand up to get this going. It is not about speed or money, just about small budget fun and regular events and meet ups.
