How Boxing Day Got Its Name 🤔

I always wondered what is the history behind Boxing day 🤔 and why we celebrated it, so I did some digging up and this is what I found 🤓.

"Boxing Day is a holiday that falls between Christmas and New Year’s Eve. Quite contrary to its name, it has nothing to do with a ring and gloves. Instead, the name derives from a time when wealthier people boxed up presents to offer to the less fortunate.

Now, the holiday is all about spending quality time with friends and family, having leftover food, shopping and resting. It is specifically celebrated in the United Kingdom and various parts of the world such as Canada, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. The day is not very well-known in the US."

I know many people are excited today including myself. I am not shopping much today but I have my eyes on a few things. So as your financial coach I must drop some gems 💎 before the madness begins so here goes.

🎯 Plan in advance. Think about what do you really want to buy on black Friday and save money towards your goal.

🎯 Set a Spending Limit. On a day where there is sale every where its easy to overspend. Set a limit on what you can realistically afford and stick to it.

🎯 Make a wish list. To get the best deal, you have to shop around to get the best deals. Make a list of what you really want whether that's a new TV. Make note of particular brands and features that interest you. That way you know exactly what you want today.
