Settle in, there's a story behind this mug ...

When I bought this mug I was working in a job that I was really struggling in 😫

Drinking my morning cuppa from this sweary mug was my (I'll admit, passive aggressive) way of wryly sticking two fingers up to the situation I was in β˜•οΈ

☠️ In a highly toxic office environment with lots of 'game playing' taking place, feeling very much like a square peg in a round hole

I was thrown in at the deep end, under pressure, trying to learn a new job role, unsupported, struggling with perimenopausal symptoms and undiagnosed ADHD and barely staying afloat

I kept my head down. I hid behind a mask, stayed quiet, not letting anyone get to know the real me

Looking back I honestly don't know how I continued in that way for almost a year πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ Tenacity? Determination to see a decision through? Stupidity? πŸ€”

I knew there had to be a better way, I just wasn't sure what?

I had put out a few tentative enquiries and when offered an escape I leapt with both feet πŸ‘‹

That was just the first step!

Today, sitting in my garden with the sun warming my face, drinking from that same mug β˜•οΈ I reflect on how far I've come πŸ™Œ

Peri symptoms managed, ADHD diagnosed and strategies in place, I'm working for myself, helping others in a role that I love ❀️ Flexibility and balance in my life πŸ₯°

It didn't happen by luck or by accident, it happened because I made decisions and took action πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ

Change is scary, but so is staying in a situation that's making you miserable. I know, I've been in your shoes, on more than one occasion!!

Today I enjoyed the most nurturing, slooow, gentle Yin yoga class πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ
We spent the first 30 minutes laying on our mats, just 'being' πŸ’«
The next hour involved gentle stretching movements & mindful breathing πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ
It was just what my mind & body needed 🧑🀍

Self care is so important for our health & wellbeing but it doesn't have to be an 'event' that you go to ...

What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy isn’t anything to be scared of.

Don't confuse it with stage hypnosis - I won't have you clucking like a chicken or barking like a dog.

Hello, I'm Donna 🧑

Welcome to
Donna Hughes Hypnotherapy and Wellness!

A little bit about me & why I've developed my heart led business 🧑

I'm based in Worksop, Nottinghamshire where I hold face to face sessions but I also work online, enabling me to work with you wherever you are in the world 🌎

With a lifelong passion for learning & development, in 2007 I travelled solo to a remote mountain location in Turkey where I joined a group of strangers on a week-long health & wellbeing retreat πŸ₯•πŸ‹

It was a life changing experience where I met some truly amazing individuals, all with their own life stories to tell. Waking at 5am for sunrise yoga, drinking freshly prepared vegetable & fruit juices, trampolining & listening to inspiring motivational speakers.

On a secluded beach, with the waves lapping the shore and the sun setting I first experienced of the amazing power of hypnotherapy and guided meditation πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ with a journey into the future, tuning in, visualising, feeling, planning and creating what my heart truly desired.

On returning to the UK I set to work making positive changes towards designing the life I'd visualised. My vision involved, amongst other things, a role where I was helping people, I just wasn't sure how yet.

Many years of self development followed, learning about myself, about human behaviour and psychology, discovering what worked & what didn't, releasing, letting go and embracing. With age comes experience πŸ’«

Fast forward to 2020, the drama of trying to work from the kitchen table for someone else, during a pandemic, whilst home schooling the kids and trying to stay relatively sane πŸ™ˆ made me evaluate just where I was going. I wasn't fulfilling my dream and purpose of helping others.

As often happens in life, an opportunity presented itself and I signed up to train as a hypnotherapist.
After much study and in-person practice I gained my diploma in clinical hypnotherapy πŸ’«

I thoroughly enjoyed the course & my love of learning led me to study further, taking my training to the next level with the Advanced Practitioner Diploma in Hypnotherapy.

Alongside hypnotherapy, I've studied masterclasses in the Law of Attraction and EFT, gained Reiki 1 attunements & will soon progress to Reiki 2.
I also love to work with crystals, essential oils and oracle cards, supporting my practice holistically.

I’m proud of my achievements & the adversities I've overcome which have helped shape me into the compassionate person I am today.

I believe we are all a work in progress. We have everything we need within us, we sometimes just need a little help & guidance to tune in and unlock our inner wisdom πŸ”‘

Rest assured that you're in safe hands - I am registered and accredited with the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC) and you can find me listed as an Advanced Practitioner on the General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR). I have a DBS and I'm fully insured to practice as a therapist.
