Amy & Cary's Gap Year

Amy & Cary's Gap Year

We have had enough of work and city life. We are going to buy a bus and drive around australia.

First stop-not sure, how long-dont know, are we coming back-maybe.

31/12/2019

Its been a while between drinks but we're hitting the road again to finish what we started! We have expanded a little since our last trip and we now have our son Ethan and our daughter Matilda along for the ride!

We'll be towing a caravan this time as we sold our coaster many years ago (sob 😢 ) and we are leaving in March and heading North. We would love to re-connect with those of you who are still travelling aswell as some of you that are new to this and have children in tow aswell.

We have dedicated a new page to share our journey so come and join the ride if youd like here ---> Our Lap!

Road trip down to tassie for a short much needed break. It was a late start as we didn't get away until 1pm. Currently just outside of Yass for a lunch break then on the road again aiming for Albury this afternoon. More updates to come. :)

Had a trial run at setting up the tent today. Little guy loves it. It was a bit confusing at first but we figured it out. Going to put it up and down a few times so we get the hang of it. Happy with the room it provided. Next up is a mosquito net for the awning and side shade, then I'll look into the solar/fridge/second battery set up. :)

Little bit of shade/weather protection sorted.

New travel rig, getting more into the nature/camping/4x4ing side for a little bit.

Roof racks on, awning going on this weekend, tent and a few other bits arriving Monday, tassie booked for December/January, Cape York mid year. Can't wait to get back on the road. :)

I'd love the support of my friends and family please if you could SHARE Cary's new business. Sydney Dents.

Cary has over 20years experience in the smash repair industry and is now offering paintless dent removal to the Sydney area. From Parking Dents to hail damage he can fix it all in a matter of hours, not days like your conventional smash repair shop because there is no need to re-spray the panel.
He is also mobile and will come to you making it convenient as he can work in your driveway.

So if you have annoying damage you want to get fixed contact me for a quote. Most of the time it's also cheaper than your excess.

Thanks a million x

Bit of detailing work on the van this afternoon, I had been meaning to do it since we bought it as the paint was pretty faded, finally had a spare afternoon to get things done. :)

02/02/2015

Halfway into my nursing diploma..... Spent today reminding myself why I started.... Can't wait to hit the road again....only this time qualified.

Photos from Amy & Cary's Gap Year's post 01/02/2015

Sorting out some unfinished things on the van at the moment. Put some hinges on the bed base so it's attached to the seat and folds away when not in use. So much better and now it doesn't fall out every time I open the tailgate. Doing some research on a small fan to help with air airflow through the vent, need something to move the hot air out when stopped as the vent on it's own isn't enough. Installed some fairy light around the roof for Amy, she was a bit surprised but really likes them. Also the dog has found her bed apparently.... :)

Happy Australia Day everyone. :)

Today we made some good progress on our extensions. The wind tried to play havoc and the rain was a bit annoying but we got there in the end. I need to make some brackets on the side of the van to hold the 2 poles that go next to it, and get some tie down rope and pegs to hold the rear 3. Overall it has doubled our usable outdoor space. Can't wait for a day of better weather so I can set it up again and finish it all off. :)

Photos from Amy & Cary's Gap Year's post 25/01/2015

Total amount of coverage hopefully once the awning is out and our new "tent" is made. :)

Mobile uploads 25/01/2015

As our trip was cut short due to not being able to find anywhere to stay, today I started on the extensions. On our last trip we found that we could so with a little more room. The aim is to enclose the back of the van, with a tent type structure. So far so good, need a few more poles and tarps and I think it will be done, more tomorrow. :)

24/01/2015

Today we packed the van and headed south to enjoy the long weekend away, only to find everything closed or booked out. Back home we go. :(

And a couple of vids.
More details of today's adventures soon, here is a little video. :)
