Former home of Derek and Jeannie Tangye. Derek the author of the books known as The Minack Chronicles Once the home of Derek and Jeannie Tangye.
Both authors and Jeannie was also an artist, many of her drawings and paintings feature in the series of books written by Derek 'The Minack Chronicles'
Based in in the far west of Cornwall they moved there to start a new life away from the rat race and began a flower farm selling daffodils and other seasonal flowers. Although Derek had already written three books he took up writing once again and
began The Minack Chronicles detailing their life at Dorminack with their animals -the cats and donkeys and a host of other wildlife. Visitors would come from across the globe to see them. Many thanking them for the books offered a release from their own lives a place they could travel to in their minds and feel andfreedom that Derek and Jeannie had, as Jeannie would often say 'We are so lucky'. For others the books gave them a way of realising they too could do it and change their lives beyond any recognition of a former existence. Jeannie died in 1986 and Derek in 1996. Both are fondly remembered today and people still visit the Nature Trust, Oliver Land, that they created near Dorminack and which is preserved for wildlife and as a Place for Solitude. Please note this is now a private home and residence, although there is public access to Oliver Land.
