Families Together in Tebay and Orton
Bringing families together for fun, games, music, stories and drama in our villages! Weβre a group
Thank you to everyone who came along today, and to all those who worked so hard to make our Tebay Fun Day a great success despite the awful weather!
Over 110 people came along for an afternoon of fun, food, face-painting and football and it was brilliant to see so many from our community get together to make this happen! Thank you to Friends of Tebay School Lunesdale United FC, Tebay Sports & Social Club The Cross Keys Inn Tebay Melody Makers Brass Band and everyone in the Families Together team who worked so hard to create this event.
Thanks to everyone's generosity, we raised over Β£300 which will go towards the work of Families Together and The Friends of Tebay School in our community.
We'll have fun with races and the helter-skelter at some future point π but for now - watch this space for more great Families Together events after the summer.
Thank you all!
Well.... The weather is not on our side and the forecast for today has got worse.
So the latest is that we'll be moving to Tebay Chapel for a Family Fun Day.
We'll still have the penalty shootout, face-painting, music, crafts, teas, coffees, pizza and cakes... But we'll have to rearrange the sports for another time when summer actually arrives!
It would be great to see you there, please come and support and enjoy our event from 1pm! π π
What a wonderful afternoon we had at Intake Farm! Fantastic weather, baby animals, incredible views, tasty sausages, many friends, crafting cute owls, planting seedlings....and celebrating Alan's 86th birthday!
Many thanks to all who made this happen - and especially to Ines and Ian for hosting us so magnificently.
Here's to the next time! πππ
Thanks to everyone who came along to our Experience Easter event yesterday! We hope you enjoyed it, had some fun and learned some new stuff about the amazing story of Easter. Thank you to all who helped make the afternoon a great success. We were also able to send a number of Easter eggs to the Upper Eden Food Bank. π
You can see the Easter garden that we made in Orton church.
Happy Easter to you all!
Someone who can often be found at our Families Together events has asked us to share this - great news for parents with small children! ππ

This looks like a great event for families, coming up this weekend!
Miscreations Theatre brings their magical Wilding Theatre back to Orton for a one-off performance of sleeping giants, gorgeous wildlife and floral puppets on Saturday 24th June at 4pm on the recreation field! This is a free show for all the family and was immensely popular with schools last year. Wilding Theatre is an extraordinary outdoor theatre adventure for children aged 5+ and their families. Wilding Theatre takes us all on an ecological odyssey of surprises β through puppets, song, clown, storytelling and listening to the natural world...
Further details and to book a seat (all be it on a mat!) can be found on the Westmorland Dales website:
https://www.friendsofthelakedistrict.org.uk/Event/wilding-theatre-2023
Otherwise don't expect the perfect view and please bring a seat and sit or stand just outside the tent!
Less than two weeks to go until our Community Sports Day! Really hope you can join us for races, food, games and lots of fun!
It will be a real community event with the Cross Keys selling pizza by the slice and the Club providing darts and tin can alley, as well as an ice-cream van, a bouncy castle, crafts and games, face painting and of course lots of races compered by Tebay's very own Dave Morland!!! Other groups, such as the Melody Makers, will also be represented.
If you would like to join in, run a game or stall, help set up or anything else, please message us ASAP.
Or just turn up on the day for Sports Day fun! Hope to see you there!πππ
Thank you so much to Jenny and Lenny Bowes at Ghyll Bank Farm for hosting a wonderful event this afternoon. About 70 of us gathered for farm tours led by Jenny, painting, fun and games and a BBQ.... and the rain held off!
Thank you to everyone who came, and for all who worked so hard to make this afternoon happen.
It looks like Spring has finally made an appearance!!
If you're taking a sunny (or rainy) stroll around the lovely villages of Orton & Tebay, check out the bird quiz in the 13 village planters.
All 13 birds featured can be seen in our local area. The answers are on the back.
Our grateful thanks to Joanna Hayward for organising this! ππ

Cumbriaβs Holiday Activity and Food Programme | Cumbria County Council Holiday activities and Food Programme
Please see below - and do add your voice to the plans for a sculpture on Tebay roundabout, especially if you live in Tebay!
Please see this invitation from Orton Methodist Chapel.
Orton Methodist Chapel invite you to a
Family Carol Service - Sunday, 18th December - 10.30am
Seasonal refreshments afterwards
We look forward to welcoming you!
Look out for the life-size Nativity Scene as it begins to take shape in the Chapel grounds, with different characters arriving to take their place during the month of December...!
Please join us for our Christingle Service this Thursday at 6.30pm. All ages welcome for this very special time together as we celebrate the Christmas season.
There will be an opportunity to give to the Children's Society to support their work with troubled children.
If you did the Light in the Darkness trail after the Christingle, did you manage to work out the hidden word?
It was EXPECTATION!
What did you think as you saw the installation at the end of the trail? Did it remind you of the first Christmas? I wonder if those awaiting the arrival of the Messiah expected him to appear in a place of cold and poverty?
Or perhaps it reminded you of the many who will be spending this Christmas out in the cold? Is the Messiah there too?
Are we ready to find God's presence in unexpected places? And how might that change our expectations of Christmas this year?
Thank you to everyone who took part.
A great time was had by all today at our Advent Party! A special thanks to Small Paul for the brilliant balloon nativity!
Quiz night fun for everyone!
