Mike Hogan - Personal Training
This is contact page for anyone interested in me taking them on for 1-2-1 Personal Training and coaching.
Back from the trip and no training but eating restaurant food and fry ups every morning.
Had a decent pump today so took this... It's not the worst 😂🙌
Another progress post.
Absolutely awesome work so far from who's defied expectations and absolutely destroyed any goals she had initially. Amazing results thus far.
She's had 4 kids and in her 40's. So any woman that thinks it can't be done, I'd like you to refer back to this picture and see it absolutely can! Your only limited by how much you're willing to work and how consistent you're going to be.
Absolutely nothing but basic stuff done here too. Lifting heavy, often, with intent.
Just the beginning this too. Michelle has big goals now she's seen what is possible :) love it!
As promised, here's what the full 18 months transformation looked like..... Sorry, there wasn't many pics or videos when I was at my worst, I actually hated taking them.
From suicidal depression and being in the worst shape of my life to being physically and mentally, the strongest I've ever been. A total weight loss of 48kg over this period.... The first pictures aren't me at my biggest.... I never took any back then due to shame.
Proof it can be done. With the right mindset and consistency. Sticking to nothing but basics, and with food. That's it.
These days I'm grateful for these times I struggled. It's made me infinitely more compassionate towards clients and friends. Too many fitness professionals spout moral high ground rubbish without ever actually experiencing what it's like to have crippling anxiety, or have other challenges that many people face daily. Life isn't black and white... But hopefully this video will serve as comfort for people that think they won't improve, set a goal and take it one step at a time. You got this!
I'm quite excited to see where I can take things in another 18 months now. I want to put on as much muscle as possible now and see what I can do in that respect.
14/15 kg between videos here and the goal from this point is to grow grow grow. Eating a ton of calories now and training like a mad man... Eating so much in tilhis heat is hard graft but nothing worth doing is easy!
Wasn't going to post this but I'm really chuffed with the progress of my back. Not seen it in years literally and always felt it changing but never saw it. Can't actually wait to see how it looks when I really lean out now :)
Another results post - Liam has been an awesome lad to help out. Took on board everything and applied it from the start... When he first spoke to me it was actually his girlfriend that asked me to talk to him because his training was getting him down, not seeing results he wanted and getting very frustrated by it... So we sat down for a few hours and in that time I explained the bigger picture. Explained that what really matters is consistency, nutrition, rest and intensity in his training to be high enough to stimulate change. Nothing else...
The difference between these pics is around 4 months. With holidays in between too... Fantastic results.
Pretty happy with progress thus far. After a god awful session just then, I gotta remember to rest more 😂😂
43kg down between pictures. Gained back some weight in the last few weeks.
Shape is definitely coming. Wasn't going to post it but I've told by a few people I need to post more of myself 😂😂😂🙈🙈
More motivated than ever now to absolutely smash the rest of this year :)
Another results post.
Work horse looking his best ever now before his holiday on Monday. Rich wanted to get fuller and leaner for his holiday so we got a plan together and he hasn't skipped a beat. By far the biggest and leanest he's ever been and now it's time to enjoy yourself mate!
There was nothing fancy. Just consistent hard work. And sticking to his food.
Here's something you don't see often. A progress picture where the after picture is actually AFTER a 10 day holiday binge. I wanted to post this to illustrate that when your primary concern isn't rapid weight loss, and you eat smart enough. Then when you go on holiday it doesn't mean you blow up like a balloon by the time you're back.... Has he gained bodyfat? Yes. Did he enjoy himself on holiday with zero guilt? Once again, yes! That's way more important than whether his abs are showing right now.
Josh has done incredibly well so far, juggling a brand new job with crazy work hours and some personal mental battles himself. Yet always finds the time to make it work and get it done....
We're using this after picture to set a new target for the end of the year and we're focusing on improving everything... Mass, condition and strength.... Josh is and always has been a pleasure to work with and a friend!
Here's to the next progress pictures mate!
Here's my final picture I'll be posting of myself until I hit my next target. Yesterday marked 12 months since I decided that things needed to change. I did it without telling anyone, I kept a hoody on, with my headphones and just worked my arse off. My initial goal was to get back in some semblance of shape, but as time went on, my strength skyrocketed my belief got stronger and stronger and as such, the goalposts moved along with my progress.
I've been pretty open about my battle with mental health recently, and have had so many people speaking to me about theirs and it's amazing that it's inspired others to charge of their own lives, seriously, you're all going to go on and inspire others yourself... Keep going! :D
In the first pic, I'd already lost a decent change of weight (believe it or not) so the difference here isn't as stark as it could have been, but it serves as a great placeholder and shows what tangible progress actually looks like. It's not something that happens over night. It takes time to reshape your body and the slower the progress, the more likely it'll stick, and the more likely you have your habits in place to make even better gains in the future.
My goal now is to grow, I won't update anything on it until I'm done... I want my right picture here to be my before picture in the next one, I want to level up now and put on so much more muscle.... I'm excited for the journey :D
If there's anything I want people to take from this it's that no matter how hard things seem right now. You absolutely can conquer your demons, and please, speak to me in the gym if you want a bit of motivation too, I'm always around :D
Here's another transformation post, indicating yet again that the basics never fail!
is a lifelong friend and she approached me during lockdown to help with her weight and wanted to turn her life around. She was seriously in the dumps, drinking quite heavily and needing a bit of guidance... So I got to work, explained what we needed to do and the timeframe we were looking at. Explained that, she's not going to do this in a few short weeks/months to undo the damage of almost a lifetime of neglect. This didn't phase her and she got to work on being consistent...
As the months went by, we posted pictures to show her dropping and used this to inspire and motivate others to do the same (hopefully it worked). The real goal however, was to find a balance, not the weight loss.... The goal was ALWAYS to improve her life, confidence and have her feeling her best.
Now, months after losing her weight, she's kept it off and kept a much healthier relationship with food and enjoys a night out like everyone does. This is about being patient and understanding that these results do take time but there's nothing more worth it IMO.
Weight loss between pictures is around 45lb. Absolutely tons considering her frame.
Zoe has done exceptionally well here, been ruthlessly consistent throughout most of the time and hasn't restricted herself in a way that she couldn't sustain and above all, she enjoyed the process as she did it. Now she's getting married and feeling the best she ever has. Proud as a bastard of you Zoe, you've smashed it 😆💪
Wasn't really sure whether to post this but here we are. Weight difference between pictures is 43.7kg down (6.88 stone) and I've clearly put on a considerable amount of muscle too in this time.
One thing I'm happy with is the development of my back and lats, it's helped my waist look like it's come in more than it has, Currently it's at 34" but I want it smaller and can definitely get it there. Also really want to help thicken up my traps and upper back... It's developed loads so far but I want more.
This was done of a lengthy period of time, a time when most people didn't even know I was dieting, or working towards anything. I did it in silence, fully covered up and wanted to showcase what can be done when you stick to basics and and just focus on being consistent.
In the left pic, I didn't know at the time but I was depressed and seriously struggling mentally. The right pic was yesterday completely cold without a pump.... It's hard to even think that the old me is actually me but there you go... This is basically just a physical manifestation of my mental health at the time... If there's anything I'd want from this post it's to show people that are also going through hard times. Is that they don't last, and the key to helping it, is to focus entirely on yourself so that you can be better around others. That's what I've found anyway...
Enough rambling... I can't wait to see where I can take this foundation now :D
Buzzing to be sharing this of client and good friend Jordan who's had a fantastic recomp so far. He's lost a fair bit of bodyfat and gained some serious muscle resulting in a huge shift in shape and strength.
When he sent me this picture yesterday, even I was pretty surprised at how far he's come, I've never seen the first picture so it was a great surprise to me too.
Just another post to showcase that the BASICS, done consistently, with intent will always work!
Absolutely smashed it Jordan mate. Just the start too :D
Still nowhere near where I want to be but I'm pretty happy with my progress this far. Shoulders have started separating now and things seem to moving in the right direction :)
Currently sitting at my lowest weight in nearly 5 years and carrying a decent amount of muscle too. Plenty more to build though so now ain't the time to get complacent :)
Need to build them traps too 🤣🤣
Wasn't sure why I never posted this before but here it is. Pretty happy with how things are moving along now.... I took this a few weeks back but here it is now 😂😂

Really happy with the progress Josh has made in the last 4 months. We're up just over 13kg and I'd say considerable amount of that is muscle. The man is a work horse and a pleasure to work with... Above all, he's just consistent and just ticks the boxes.
came into Evo one day and we got chatting about his goals to increase muscular endurance and strength so he came climb mountains with a lot less issues. When your goal is to ascend Mt Everest and others, you know it's serious. I could tell they were huge and still are, I loved the positive outlook so we got going straight away.
17 weeks later, after listening and putting in a TON of work inside and outside the gym. We're here....
He's smashing personal bests going up mountains now. And looks WAY better to boot. The best thing is we are only getting started :)
Brilliant work Josh mate 💪💪

Well he finally shown up. My guy coming in to learn how to optimally hit his chest and shoulders. This lad has made huge changes in the last year and a half of being consistent and ready to learn.
I've been helping him on and off in this time and I'm super happy to see him change so much!
Awesome mate!

So as the year draws to a close, I reflect back on my progress, physical as well as mental...
First pic was last year around this time, the second one was the other day... I got another 14kg heavier than the first pic but never took any pictures at the time as I was ashamed, and pretty much suicidaI (nah, I'm not ashamed anymore) so I only have previous weigh-ins to go from. My real training kicked off in May time, from then I literally just didn't stop, kept things as consistent as I could and just kept going. I never missed a meal, never missed a session and never once deterred from my vision.
So far, from my heaviest, to now, I'm 41.7kg down and well on track to make it 50kg down too. I'm not where I want to be just yet, but chance's are I'll never reach a point where I'm happy, that's both a blessing and a curse.
My goal from here is to inspire others, and show that no matter how down you feel. There is a way out, there really is, it just takes a bit of work.
Next year I can't wait to get in the best shape of my entire life! I won't stop until that is reached!! For now, it's deload time and a diet break. Much needed!!

So I'm posting this because I've finally reached the elusive 40kg (88.1lb) down today and I'm super pleased with how much mass I've retained whilst being in a deficit now since May. Still got more to come off now before posting the actual progress photos so here's a pic I took pumped, with optimal angles in decent lighting 🤣🤣🤣🤣

having his first leg session today. 🤣🤣🤣 Tougher than expected pal? Ha

Really happy with this comparison, albeit not like for like. Clear progress has been made and the difference between the two pics is 10 weeks.

It's been an absolute age since I've posted anything of myself, mainly because I've had nothing I can be happy about.
This is a pic taken today by after I'd finished training.
So far I'm quite chuffed with how far I've come from compared with November last year. Back then I was 147kg, depressed and having suicidal thoughts (I ain't ashamed anymore) and struggled to motivate myself to do anything. This morning I weighed in at 113.6kg a total lost so far of 33.3kg since then and it's still decreasing everyweek.
As a PT, admitting I struggled like this mentally is tough, because we're supposed to have all the answers and there's no doubt going to be people that would talk s**t about that fact but I don't care anymore. I'd rather clients knew I can relate to them more than most....
I have big goals in mind now and am the most focused than I've ever been I think. Training is the best it's ever been now too after putting lots of work into my mobility joint health.
Happy weekend!

😘😘😘😘
Looking at adding 2 more clients to my roster from next week. Anyone interested in getting involved, please send me a message to let me know your goals and we can see if I'm the right choice for you....
I've had a few people message about this, so it's on a first come first serve basis... Anyone that thinks this may benefit someone, please share this post :)
Something to think about when it comes to the appalling display of hate the England players have received.
The way these lads have projected themselves, along with Gareth Southgate has been a class act. Normally there's scandals and all sorts before a tournament for someone in the squad.... This team has been a fantastic representation of our country and has given us one of the most amazing spirit lifting weeks we've had in decades, especially after that awful Covid lockdown!!

Sometimes you just gotta look back at that good times 😂🙌

Absolutely ecstatic about my shoulder finally feeling like we're getting towards fully recovered. After tearing my infraspinatus a year or so ago I was unable to press anything, or even raise my arm at one point.
After nearly a year and half of self-made rehab it's massively improved and I managed to shoulder press 47.5kg literally right after hitting 42.5kg for 10. Not that weights that important to me, I'm just over the moon it's improving now :D
