If you are a fan of Bob’s Red Mill products I have the place for you in Milwaukie, OR, just outside Portland. Never did I realize how many products they actually produce. Not only is there a factory in one building, but another that includes a store, restaurant, and bakery.

The Sandy River, a premier salmon and steelhead stream, flows from the glaciers of Mount Hood to the Columbia River Gorge, just east of Portland, Oregon. Perhaps the wildest urban river in the nation, the Sandy winds for 56 beautiful miles through towering forests and moss-draped gorges—all without a single dam.

ROADSIDE ATTRACTION: The Sacramento Discovery Center has exhibits on the Sacramento River and the Diversion Dam just outside its doors. You might get a chance to see endangered chinook and green and white sturgeon migrate. There is up to 120 species of birds also. With 4.2 miles of trails you never know what you’ll see. I particularly liked the gardens at the center.

Took a hike where we are staying at Sycamore Grove Campground along the banks of the Sacramento River. The area is an isolated parcel of the Mendocino National Forest in Northern California, in Red Bluff, CA. Enjoying shady oak and sycamore trees and grassy fields within a beautiful riparian environment. With National Park Pass, we are paying $12.50 a night, 😁.

Visited Berkeley, CA. Was so close to San Francisco we decided to go to Wharf 39 (a tourist must) to let Deeks see the sea lions. He was mesmerized by them.

White Gold…..
Call it farm-to-chopstick. Not only does nearly every bite of sushi rice in the United States come from California, but almost all of it—97 percent, to be exact—comes from the Sacramento Valley. And when it comes to ultra-premium Japanese-style rice (yep, there’s a difference), Yuba City’s Montana Farms is the American gold standard. With over 3,000 acres of rice fields, there are just as many SWANS! Never have I seen so many in one area.
