Today we celebrate an amazing Female Medical Pioneer, Dr. (Doctress) Rebecca Lee Crumpler, who after graduating from the New England Female Medical College, on February 24, 1864, became the first African American Female Doctor. Dr. Crumpler went on to become the 1st African American, male or female, to write a medical journal, " A Book of Medical Discourses". During that extremely difficult times, she faced many prejudices. Some of the hospitals wouldn’t grant her admitting privileges, some of the pharmacists refused to fill her prescriptions, some people joked that the ‘M.D.’ behind her name stood for ‘mule driver.’ What she accomplished in the face of adversity was exemplary.” It is believed that she may have passed not even knowing she was the first female medical pioneer. Thank you, Thank you, Thank You Doctress Rebecca Crumpler for your kind heart and perseverance!

Wow, not until 1979! (Note: the first regular brigadier general was commissioned in 1867.) Yes, Lt. General Frank E. Petersen, I Salute & Thank You for your service and groundbreaking contributions!
