Hello lovely people! I’m in the middle of the most complicated and stressful house move, I won’t bore you with the details but don’t talk to me about solicitors, land registry, solicitors, estate agents, solicitors, vendors who can’t make their minds up or solicitors! Anyhoo I’ve been busy filling a box with pigs and I know it’s early but the likelihood is that once these have gone it’ll be October before I’ll be able to get them back in stock. So if you want to get ahead for the C word now would be the time to do it. Available in my corner of , link in bio . I’ll pop in and out as I can and normal service will be resumed once the nightmare is over! 😂 Jo x
I’ve made a right pigs ear of this! The left one’s in the box. (Do you see what I did there? 😁) Seriously though , I’m still full of cold with a brain full of cotton wool but I’ve made so many 🐷‘s now (over 400) that I can whip up the components practically in my sleep so it’s perfect for when I’m feeling sub par. Good news though is that as a result there’ll be a big pig restock in a week or so 😁 watch this space x
Urgh. Smallest of all has bought some sort of snotty, cough-y, achy disgustingness home from nursery which has completely floored me. Mr GRH is doing bedtime and I’ve decamped to the sofa with my bestest girl, duvet and season 3 of Clarksons Farm. Normal hooky service will be resumed soon (I hope!)
Help a h@ out. Any suggestions for things to watch whilst I’m working? Ideally something which doesn’t take up too much mental bandwidth and I could follow without necessarily knowing what the characters look like (iykyk 😂) We’ve Netflix, Prime and Now (and Disney for a couple of months until the super cheap offer runs out). Go 👇🏻
Little motifs on my hook today, what’s on yours?
Vitamin sea anyone? We’re lucky to be near the coast so we can pop over for a cheeky beach walk when the mood takes us. Smallest of all is never happier than when she’s outdoors, throw in a paddle in wellies and a hot chocolate and it’s pretty much nirvana as far as she’s concerned 😀.
We’ve got sun here today after frankly biblical rain and wind at the beginning of the week so I’ve a load of washing blowing in the breeze and my thoughts are turning to summer makes. Well, I say thoughts, I’ve had the thoughts since January but it’s a struggle to find the time at present. Anyhoo I’ve begun work on some of my crochet jars which are ideal as tea light holders out on the patio table (amongst other uses 😀). This one’s giving ice cream cake (beginning with V) vibes! Have a fab afternoon all x
Mother Nature at her finest. That is all 🌈😁🌈😍
Finishing off a couple of springtime wreaths today. Life has been pretty stressful of late what with one thing and another but working with these lovely spring colours is really lifting my spirits. We just need some sunshine now 😁
to 2022 when I started the Arizona blanket by . Life got in the way and its been sitting in the WIP pile for 2 years but I dug it out last night and I’m determined to get it finished. This isn’t the longest a project has sat in my wip pile. There’s a cowl in there that I’m working a pattern up for that’s been there for nearly 4 years. 😱Shall we normalise this? Share your long stay residents of the wip pile, doesn’t have to be crochet , doesn’t even have to be yarn related. Show me what you got and maybe we’ll all feel better 😆🤪
There’s some really organised people out there (I want to be just like them when I grow up!) Piggies have been flying out this weekend so I’ve been busy making and I’ve listed a few more in my place just in case you’re a proper grown up and want to get ahead for December 🎄😃Have a marvellous Monday lovely people x
Right. First off I hate, loathe and despise having my photo taken with a passion I can’t even begin to describe. So consider yourselves lucky 😂. I’m taking part in challenge and the first prompt is meet the maker so I thought I’d better pull up my big girl pants and do it! So this is me. I’m Jo and I’m a lady of a certain age with a big birthday this year. I’m Mum to 4 grown up children and Granny to 7, the youngest of whom we’re raising, and dog Mum to a labrador cross. When I’m not hooking I love to be out and about in the country lanes around our home either with the dog 🐶 or on my 🚴 with little one in the trailer on the back. I love the beach , especially in winter. I hate asparagus and gooseberries, love mushrooms, cheese and cake of any sort. My favourite season is Autumn and my favourite month is January as it’s so full of possibilities. Right, that’s enough about me, it’d be great to get to know you so drop a fact or two in the comments . Have a terrific Tuesday lovely people 💕
What-ho peeps. I don’t know what you’re up to this NYE but I’ve got my jammies on, a cup of tea in hand and I’m planning the crap out of 2024! It’s my 4th year of using the planner from and the cover on this years is just gorgeous isn’t it? I’ve even ordered some new pens because , you know, stationery. Have a great night whatever you’re up to. X
As an antidote to the hell that was yesterdays shopping trip here’s smallest of all putting the finishing touches to her tree in the playroom. Its full of handmade and unique decs that we’ve either been gifted , made ourselves or bought at various craft fairs over the years. There’s about 6 items on each branch at the front and zilch at the back and sides but I think it’s glorious and I’m leaving it exactly like it is! Whatever you’re doing tomorrow and however your celebrating I hope it’s full of simple pleasures and that you make lots of happy memories. Merry Christmas, from our house to yours. Jo x
Place your bets now as to the likely hood of this cake coming out of the mould in one piece. Mr GRH will give you any odds you like that it won’t , angles are all wrong apparently 🙄. It’s a Madeira sponge if that informs your wager at all🤣
That’s a wrap! The last of this years piggies are off to their new homes and my shop is closed for a few days whilst I attempt to pull Christmas together at the last minute (again! 😆). Have a terrific Tuesday all x
A pile of blankets ready to be wrapped around piggies. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas here 🎄🎅🐷😂.
As ‘awareness’ days go British Pudding day (today) has to be up there with the best, and Christmas pudding is about as British as you can get! I’ll confess, we eat them all year round. As far as Mr Good Right is concerned any day which contains pudding is a good day, especially if it comes with a bucket full of custard. Now I think about it, maybe my tumble dryer isn’t shrinking my clothes after all 😜Anyhoo here’s a selection of puds which won’t result in you being unable to get your jeans done up. Find them and more over at . Have a stupendous Thursday all x
Brrr! Nippy as here in Norfolk this morning so I've dragged this chunky scarf out of the PHD (projects half done) pile. Once upon a time I couldn't wear these sort of colours but since I went grey I've found all sorts of colours that didn't used to suit me are now an option. Has anyone else found this as they've got older? Anyhoo, toddler permitting I'm hoping to have done by this evening. Watch the temperature be 10 degrees higher tomorrow 😆
It’s a scale it up Saturday here Good Right Hook towers. Smallest of all loves to ‘help’ me packing orders but obviously no one wants their order to arrive covered in toddler gunk 😂 So I’ve made her a bigger pig 🐷 all of her own which she can not only pack , unpack and repack to her hearts content but can also be included in games and taken to bed at the end of the day. On to a scaled up cat next 😹
You might think it's Halloween but actually it's our 4th Birthday Eve! The reason I am telling you this is that we have a rather epic giveaway that we are running tomorrow but it will be via our newsletter! Because honestly FB decides who sees our posts and that might not be you!
The good news is that there is still time to sign up so you don't miss out!

Thank you for supporting our rather fabulous small businesses!
Happy Halloween! 🎃We don’t really celebrate , although I suppose we’ll have to start now that we have another little one in the house. I unearthed this wreath when I was emptying my work room for the ongoing floor debacle (don’t ask!) and thought I’d pop it up above the fireplace. It still needs a spider adding but I think it looks ok nonetheless. Have a good day all whatever you’re up to x
It’s going to be a ‘bear with me’ few days. We’ve discovered a leak under the concrete floor in my workroom which means some of the floor is going to have to come up. I’ve found homes for what I can in other parts of the house but the rest is now behind taped up polythene whilst Mr GRH works his magic! On the plus side this is what he does as a day job so it’s only going to cost materials. On the minus side because of the day job he’s going to have to fit this in in the hour in the evening between getting home from work and little one going to bed (because of the noise) so it’s going to take several days to put right. Hope your week is going better x
Well lookie here! is back. As it’s so grey and miserable out there I thought I’d kick off the reboot with a lovely selection of rainbow awesomeness. Enjoy 😊
This week (2 - 8 October ) is kinship care week here in the UK. About this time last year we came to the realisation that we would be raising our granddaughter. It’s not what either of us envisaged doing at this time in our lives, we’d just got the youngest off to uni a couple of years before and we were beginning to settle into what we thought middle age would be. Meals out if we didn’t fancy cooking, taking off in the caravan for the weekend at the drop of a hat, staying in bed with the papers on Sunday mornings, siestas when we felt like it, you get the picture. But it turns out that middle age for us is now broken nights, early mornings, toddler groups, potty training and Hey Duggee (soo much Duggee 😂). And its hard when we see our friends , now child free going out and doing all the things that we aren’t going to be able to do for the next 16 years. But there’s also the joy of having a child in the house again. There have been highs and some (very low) lows. Tears but lots of laughter too. But most of all there’s been love and at the end of the day that’s all you really need.
Hellooo! Been MIA for a couple of weeks , been a bit busy getting married. No fuss , just us and 4 guests and it was the most perfect intimate day. I crocheted my bouquet and Mr GRH’s buttonhole and thought you’d like to see them. Definitely my favourite make this year. X
Love me an organised cupboard. Mr GRH rescued these cupboards from an office he was refitting. They’re solid wood, sturdy as you like and will likely see me out. I never cease to be amazed at the perfectly good stuff people just throw out. I can’t show you the rest yet because it looks like a bomb went off in Hobbycraft but once I’ve got them all sorted I will. Might even do a reel!
I know! I know! I said I wasn’t going to mention the C word until September but this is a bit of a public service announcement if you will 😁. I used to make pigs and cats to order and then last September life happened and over the next 3 months it really happened. I had to let a lot of people down as I just didn’t have the time to fulfill all the orders I’d taken. I don’t ever want to be in that situation again, and I particularly don’t want to let my customers down so now I only sell what I have in stock. The up side of this is that if you order a pig (or anything else ) it will be with you in a few days. The downside is that sometimes pigs and cats toddle out the door faster than I can replace them . (In the last 7 days I’ve sent 15 pigs on their way to their new homes) I am hooking as fast as life and commissions allow and I’m trying to restock at least 1 or 2 everyday, so please keep checking for stock levels. I will continue to make and restock right up until Christmas last posting day. The pattern (if you want to make your own) is available in my Etsy store, the finished items made by me are exclusive to
I’m busy restocking pigs today, bear with me, I haven’t much time at the moment and they go really quickly. Once we get into September I’ll be able to step up production a bit so don’t despair if you miss out just now. In the meantime , I thought you’d like to see how your pigs (in fact most things you order from me) will arrive. When you buy handmade you’re buying something quite special and I hope my packaging reflects that. In addition all the card and paper is recyclable and the tape is compostable too! Have a wonderful Wednesday x.
‘Helloo, I see you have toast. I too would like toast. Any chance you’re sharing?’ Your snacks aren’t your own in this flippin house 😂
