Thank you to everyone who came out last week to celebrate the Portlandia Toastmasters Club’s 45th anniversary! It was great to see new and familiar faces, learn a little about the club’s history and raise a glass to many more years of speechcraft 🥂

Portlandia Toastmasters is celebrating its 45th anniversary with an open house event! Join us Thursday, Dec. 7, for a special meeting followed by a social hour, where attendees will learn about the benefits of joining Toastmasters and have the chance to meet with a mentor one-on-one.

Drinks and snacks will be provided. Current and former members, as well as those considering joining, are encouraged to attend this free event. We hope to see you there!

Hi everyone! We have some exciting news to share. We're starting to take our meetings back in-person once a month. Starting Thursday, Oct. 5, we'll be holding our Toastmasters meetings in person the first Thursday of every month. Otherwise, our Thursday meetings will still be held virtually via Zoom.

We had an awesome St. Patrick's Day themed meeting! We were challenged to wear green. Celia spoke for the first time preparing for a work speaking event coming up the first part of April. We then moved on to St Patrick's Day themed Table topics, discussing luck, rainbows, and work live balance.

Yesterday's Poetry Table Topics was great fun! Jean inspired us with "Phenomenal Women" by Maya Angelou. Patrick shared a picture card that went with his poem "La Belle Dame Sans Merci" by John Keats. Anna shared an excerpt from "Walden", Henry Thoreau. Marie shared "Mending Wall" by Robert Frost. Paula shared a little Shel Silverstein, "I don't want to go to school". Andrew shared "A Tribute to Sir Terry Pratchett" while Bryan lightened up the meeting with "True Joy" M.Jolynn Rawson Hunt. I closed with sharing the "Art of Marriage" by Wilferd Arlan Peterson.
