I'm so excited for my first PAX this weekend!!!!

This Saturday and Sunday I'll be wearing and debuting an (almost nearly not quite semi finished) TOTK Zelda.
I chose her as a cosplay months ago because I thought she'd be simple and straightforward. So of course I had to overcomplicate the construction 😹 how she's managed to fit over 12m of fabric in her still confuses me - there be glorious amounts of lurex silk
On Friday I'll be in casual.

Please come say hi!

With absolutely no conventions coming up this weekend, or massively massive work shows that are about to tour, here's a throwback to something from work earlier in the year that I can finally look at again without wanting to have a play date with a lion.

Enjoy Jewels. Very sparkly. No headaches at all.
Best. Time. Ever.

P.S. I know Pax is in less than a week. I am procrastinating making my first cosplay in a year. Shush.

P.P.S. Swan Lake photos shall be posted next time I need to procrastinate... maybe right before Oz Comic-Con

Throwback to a couple of weeks ago (with my stolen kitties) before Zelda came out, when I was still hopeful that I could have all of this completely necessary and important detailing and decorative beadwork finished before OzCC Melbourne 😹

If you can't hem over 20m of your hand dyed silk fabric with copious amounts of sparklies then it's not worth wearing yet
Oh well 😹

So at the start of the year I moved interstate to Melbourne for work.

On top of all the fun stuff an interstate move takes, it means I am now crafting in a teensy tiny space with a fraction of my beloved tools, machines, fabrics, stashes, resources, books, and helpers (farewell my beloved fat, fluffykins cali-cat, your helpful laying on top of fabrics shall be missed 😿)

For the first cosplay in this new space and state I have decided to make a redesigned version of Meg from Disney's Hercules, because redesigns are fun and you can tailor the design choices to the things and resources you have available to you.

This is all mostly just pinned pretty silk fabric to my new mannequin right now, but armed with a new stash of beads, dyes and other various sparkly decorations I can't wait to get started on her in full.

I have no idea how she's going to turn out....
Or a lot of the design specifics....
but I suspect she'll be a rather fun project to add random beading and decoration to, until my magpie heart is happy with all the shinies

Angsty moodiness.
You always feel so dramatic in swathes of cartridge pleated velvet... And hand dyed silk, rhinestones, smocking, embroidery, piping, hand made silk flowers, gold tissue, beading... you get the idea

New camera, fancy lens, and a selfie while my photographer was distracted.
