We've been seeing a large number of announcements, bulletins and support for "local restaurants" during this pandemic but after numerous attempts to request food trucks be included in the march forward, we've yet to see "one" mention, "one" bulletin, "one" reply to even discuss what our industry can do to help residents, first responders, the elderly and those in need.

We usually have over 185 food trucks working daily. Since the pandemic hit, more than 70% have had to close their doors. But no one seems to care. They are small businesses that are just as important as restaurant owners. They also have families to feed and bills to pay. After a recent survey, I grew to learn that NONE of them have received any financial relief, loan or grant, and to make matters worse, there hasn't been any support from our representatives to utilize them for those in need. It's a bit of a slap in the face to be left in the shadows of brick and mortars.

We have contactless ordering technology, safe pickup options, safe delivery options, all readily available to dispatch. All of these options are safer, faster and more readily available than most delivery and pickup options available through restaurants. WE ARE MOBILE and no one has even thought of utilizing us.

We are asking Los Angeles City Councilmembers to pay attention to an LA Born Industry that needs your help. It's hard to see that cities all over the country are using food trucks more than ever but in LA, where the industry was born, they are left in the dark to fend for themselves. Mike Bonin
