We’re looking forward to seeing more of Bethany Darnell and her non profit Ultreia Society ! Her foundation creates a wrap-around effect of support for freshmen students from upperclassman and matches the upperclassmen with community mentors.

1. I am currently attending Appalachian State University and I am double majoring in Psychology and International Criminal Justice. What I love about App is International they are. They are constantly sending students abroad and bringing in students from abroad. I’m even going to Peru this summer!

2. One thing that I wish I knew in high school before coming to college was how much my “life plan” would change. I’m only a freshman and I’ve already changed my major twice and I’m going to change it again. Nothing is set in stone so be open to change.

3. Ultreia Society taught me a lot about Advocacy. Since being on campus I’ve joined different advocacy groups and protested a bunch of issues. Most recently protesting Trumps decision on the DREAM act. Ultreia also taught me that there are so many different ways to advocate. Wether I’m posting something on Instagram or going out onto campus it’s making an impact.

4. During college I hope to become more confident in my public speaking so that I can be more comfortable in expressing my opinions. After college I’m not entirely sure what I will be doing. But imagine it will be something within the criminal justice system.
