Purple flags lined the sidewalk in front of the DA office for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The 4,000 flags represent not only survivors but the 4,000 domestic violence cases the district attorney’s office screened over the last year. My office has filed over 16,000 domestic violence cases since 2016.
Empowering survivors, seeking justice, and breaking the cycle of domestic violence. Together, we can make every day safer here in Salt Lake County.
I was honored to attend the Red Mass at the Cathedral of the Madeleine this year. The Catholic Church has hosted Red Mass since the year 1245, with the first recorded Red Mass taking place at the Cathedral of Paris. It's a time for reflection and renewal, a reminder of the importance of our work in upholding the law and ensuring justice for all. It was a humbling experience to join with members of the legal community, judges, attorneys, and fellow community members for this tradition. We are grateful to the Cathedral of the Madeleine for hosting this meaningful event.
Indigenous Peoples Day is an incredible opportunity to honor the rich heritage, culture, and contributions of Indigenous communities, let's also reflect on the importance of justice, equality, and unity. Together, we can build a more inclusive and equitable future for all.
Wishing an easy and meaningful fast to members of the Jewish community this Yom Kippur!
Today, we celebrate the hardworking Americans who contribute their hours and skills to our community, making Utah a better place for all. Let's continue to champion workers' rights and fair labor practices together.
Read this short article I wrote about criminal justice reform. Reform, when implemented by a legitimate and trusted prosecutors office, are not only possible but more effective. We can make changes that make things better for our constituents without compromising public safety. We can do more to support crime victims and their families. My office is working to uphold accountability and fairness.

is a powerful celebration of the abolition of slavery in the U.S. and a poignant reminder of the ongoing struggle for racial justice.
We cannot turn a blind eye to the inequities that persist. It's time to dismantle systemic barriers and work towards a criminal justice system that truly serves everyone.
in The Crime Report, I discussed the growing division between "reform" and "tough on crime" prosecutors and why I believe that reform and public safety can go hand in hand.

Our hearts go out to the families of the two people who died in a road rage incident in Eagle Mountain last weekend. This is a tragic reminder of the dangers of road rage.
Road rage is any aggressive or angry behavior exhibited by a driver. In some extreme cases, road rage can lead to violence or even death.
There are a few things you can do to avoid it:
→ Stay calm. It's easy to get angry when you're driving. If you start to feel angry, take a deep breath and count to ten.
→ Don't engage. If someone is driving aggressively, don't engage with them. Just let them go.
→ Report aggressive drivers. If you see someone driving aggressively, report it to the police. You can do this by calling 911 or by using a traffic app.
By following these tips, you can help to keep yourself and others safe on the road.
Happy Pride Everyone!
Happy 🏳️🌈 Excited to celebrate love and equality this month and look forward to seeing you all at the Utah Pride Festival this weekend!
This Memorial Day, we honor the bravery and the sacrifices made by our service members.
May their courage inspire us to build the just and compassionate society they fought so valiantly to protect.
As we approach the long-awaited Memorial Day weekend, I want to take a moment to remind everyone about the importance of honoring our fallen heroes responsibly!
Here are some safety tips to keep in mind:
👉 Drive responsibly: wear your seatbelt and follow traffic laws.
👉 Drink responsibly: don’t overindulge and have a designated driver. NEVER drink and drive.
👉 Practice water safety: make sure everyone wears appropriate life jackets while boating or participating in water activities!
By prioritizing safety, we can ensure that this Memorial Day weekend remains a time of reflection, gratitude, and togetherness.
I am proud of all that we have been able to get done since being elected as Salt Lake County’s District Attorney.
But one of the key accomplishments I am most proud of is the Conviction Integrity Unit formed in my office.
This unit ensures that justice is served, that innocent people are not wrongfully convicted, and that our criminal justice system operates with fairness and accountability.

Spring may have officially arrived in Utah this week, but that doesn’t mean that winter weather will be making its way out anytime soon.
As we prepare for more winter conditions, please remember to plan your day accordingly and above all, DRIVE WITH CAUTION.
Speeding is one of the main causes of crashes in winter conditions. Slow down.
