Lyrican (real name E. Anthony Torres) was born January 6 1984 in Lancaster, Pa. When I was a child, I remember drawing. That’s the night I decide to write songs.
I draw everything from super heroes to animals. Drawing was a talent I received from my mother who was a wonderful artist. As I grew I became interested in writing poetry. As I struggled in school poetry was my way of venting. But it left me with a problem of not being able to release. Then Welly died, besides crying I really had no way to express my feelings. My 1st song was never record and I re
ally don’t remember it. I buried it with her on her funeral day. So I dedicate my carrier to her. As I grew I tried to understand and study this thing Hip Hop. I was introduced to it by my cousins Jocelyn and Pedro. I was hooked; I couldn’t stop listening to it. So since I already wrote poetry it was a easy blend to mix it with poetry. With my father already in the music biz I remember sitting in his recording studio watching him mix and record. The way he did it was like an art form. I read lyrics a lot trying to figure out the structure of a song. I still remember my1st recorded song. All I remember was that It was myself and Pedro. We jacked warren G lyric and reworked them as we used a beat from a keyboard I had. People ask me why I love music so much. Well besides growing up on it, music was my way of expression. Hip Hop isn’t just music it’s a culture. I love being it in, it is me. To this date I have 6 releases Jacking’ Beats Vol.1 & 2, 2nd First Impression, Birth Prince Ep, and Fresher than the Average Vol.1. It 2007 I was up for “Best New Artist” and in 2008 ‘Best Latin Artist” &”Best Graphic Designer” In Central Pennsylvania Hip Hop Awards. Even do I didn’t win both years, I performed both years. I’ve done a lot of local shows in Lancaster, York, Harrisburg and New York. I love performing I caught the buzz in my junior year in high school in the school talent show. The crowd screaming and chanting my name….wow it felt great. The one questions labels asked is the easiest to answer for me. What makes me different? Well I never shoot no one, never killed anyone. I sold drugs for a very brief time in school but was appalled about the lack of money it brought in. I’ve like in the “ghetto” but don’t glorify it. I love music and put one hundred percent of me in every son. As an artist I believe in creativity, and the pure passion of music. I’m different because I have fun with music. I believe in the other side on the fence in writing my songs. It’s nice to party as well as girls but personally songs cause person connections with people.
