Creating Joy
I love to create in a myriad of ways. Creativity brings me so much joy and I love any opportunity to
It’s time for another baby blanket!
My recent project has involved painting notebooks and my Bible! I love how they’ve turned out!
Another baby, another blanket!
Finished my version of the sweet pea blanket! Loving all the colours and stitches! So enjoyable to make!
Some people are just really good at starting new projects before the others are finished… hence the finish a long. I have also discovered a love for a good crochet a long (CAL) and excited about completing this one just for me!
The final piece. Now gifted and given to a very happy child. Hopefully this will really help them and it looks cool! It’s not perfect and I’ve definitely learnt some bits along the way but I am really happy with the result. One thing to remember is to keep sewing and not leave it so long next time!

3kg of rice and many sections later, this is one heavy weighted blanket. I might have broken one or two needles but I think that’s being out of practice and my lines weren’t as straight but not seen for over two years! Looks good so far, I can’t get the machine over the final seam which is rather thick so it’s got to be done by hand! Watch this space!
All sewn ready to make into a pillowcase shape again! Next step weigh and add the rice!
All stitched ready for the next stage of this weighted blanket! Feels so good to have the machine out again. Recently a family member recommended using a walking foot and combined with the magnetic guide this was a total game changer!
Despite my attempts to avoid trimming the edges so they were straight, this project got the better of me. I couldn’t find a pillow case with a theme perfect for the child in question so I bought some fabric. I also decided to tip out the seams and line my weighted blanket with a pillow case cover to give a bit of strength and softness too! Here is my laid out fabric and cover ready for stitching with the machine.
Recently I decided to make a small weighted blanket for a child. Over the next few days I’ll share my progress with you and the final piece! Follow along with me creating joy with love!
After some frogging I’m in for an evening with the blanket and a cuppa!
Being creative gives us opportunities to start projects of all kinds. It’s really easy to start a project and not finish it and I’ve found working with others and sharing helps keep me motivated. This is a space for you to share your creative journey - whatever your craft(s) - and hopefully finish some too with encouragement from others! Come and share your works in progress and let’s get them finished together! Join the fun Creating Joy with Love - Finish a long (FAL)
A few weeks ago, two precious young ladies in our church. I wanted to create something beautiful and meaningful for them! I’m pleased to say they loved them and I am fairly happy to be creating joy with love ♥️
Baby blanket complete and the recipient loves it!
Appliqués attached and borders added… here comes the joining!
This months project - an animal themed baby blanket. My first attempt and appliqués. They’ve turned out well but never again 😂
