Meet Ebony

Ebony has over 15 years of experience partnering with families, communities, and organizations to build a stronger Chicago. She is currently the Chicago Director for the Family Independence Initiative (FII) and prior to that served as the Director of Community Engagement for a Charter School network on the Far Southside and as the Statewide Coalition Director for a nationally recognized education policy group where she helped pass laws that improved access to quality education for kids across Illinois. She has also proudly served at Teach for America where she was responsible for co-leading their alumni engagement strategy for diversity initiatives and career services and as the Executive Director of Public Allies in Chicago where she tripled its growth and expanded opportunities for more young people to serve their communities and launch their own public sector careers. Ebony also has worked as an aide to a west side Chicago Alderman.

Ebony lives with her amazing six- year-old son Thaddeus, who is a daily reminder of why she chooses this work and of just how high the stakes are.
