Happy Saturday! How are ya’ll doing? Interestingly, I’ve been VR gaming less but using VR just as much as ever. I’ve actually been using my Apple Vision Pro for watching kdrama from bed, journaling in really peaceful environments, and flat gaming via my steam library.

I’m still in a discovery phase with alternate uses of XR outside of “traditional VR gaming” (am I allowed to use the word traditional in the context of VR now??).

As I uncover more practical use cases, you’ll start seeing more exploratory videos from me. Here’s the first one and how flat gaming on Apple Vision Pro has made me actually partake in flat games again. My heart still lies in full VR gaming, but sometimes its nice to sink into your gaming chair and use a controller.

P.S. In other news, I’ve been deep in development of an upcoming VR game with Flat2VR Studios. I’m actually producing this title so I end up playing this game almost daily in VR for testing. I can’t tell you what it is yet, but soon ☺️

I’ve had early access and it’s really fun. This hits harder for 90’s babies who love a bit of nostalgia. Essentially, you inherit your dad’s laundry mat and you take care of it / earn money to build up an arcade in the back room.

You do have to do laundry & chores in game to earn money, but the entire thing is gamified. Even throwing out your trash is like a basketball mini game 😂

Overall a fun title & would recommend if you’re into simulators and 90s nostalgia ✨

Flat2VR Studios is focused on porting the best existing flatscreen games to VR and leverages the skills and learnings (and amazing devs!) from Flat2VR Community. Flat2VR Community has been modding flatscreen games to VR for over 5 years with 30+ modded games, including Half Life 2, Neon White, Outer Wilds, Doom, Firewatch, etc, and has accumulated 10M+ downloads!

We are so excited to expand VR gaming libraries everywhere. I’ve been meeting with so many OG game studios and was in back to back meetings all of GDC. That’s as much as I can share for now.

I brought my Apple Vision Pro to a coffee shop to work on today.

✅ Pros:
- AVP allowed me to “focus” more (when I wasn’t busy exploring what apps I can use) and have multiple screens.
- Also using gaze + pinch made some things faster than trying to find your mouse on your screen.

❌ Cons:
- Figuring out where to put all the screens was challenging… my neck started to hurt looking up so much. Still need to figure out optimal screen sizes and placement.
- The mouse on my MacBook Pro didn’t always work as intended. You can use your trackpad & keyboard from mbp on Vision Pro apps but sometimes when typing, instead of typing in the Vision Pro app, it would type on the mbp.
- Most importantly, I couldn’t enjoy the beautiful blue skies in San Diego cause of the dimmed passthrough.
