Celebrating a 'local legend'.
In 2017 we sadly lost a great friend and 'local legend' Malcolm James Dunning.
The Maunga Mission was Malcolm's first multisport event, from there he then competed in this event every year until his last individual race in 2014.
In 2015 he supported the event once again as the tail end Charlie over the Mighty mountain. In 2016 he joined a team for the paddle section and finally in 2017 was at the finish line supporting competitors over the line.
Malcolm won his age division 3 times at the Maungatautari Mission.
With that unforgettable beard Malcolm was hard to miss at events and truly was a real mountain man.
As tribute to this 'local legend' we will be awarding the 'Malcolm James Dunning' trophy to the first man over the line in the 60+ full multisport.
If you have raced against Malcolm in the past it would be great to see you racing again this year in honour and in celebration of this 'local legend'.
