THE FAREWELL. “ELVIS HAS LEFT THE BUILDING.” THE LAST CONCERT.
On June 26, 1977 at Market Square Arena in Indianapolis, at about 8:30 p.m., Elvis started his final concert with the song See See Rider.
The audience, as usual, went wild, giving him a massive ovation. 18,000 people would witness what would be his final performance.
The show was last of the
tour that had started on June 17.
Elvis took to the stage wrapped in his "Mexical Sundial" jumpsuit shining with the light he always shined, like a star in the firmament, and put on a good show, giving everything, or even more than he could, as always, in front of his fans. She even sang songs that had long been out of her repertoire such as "Release Me," "I Cant Stop Lovin' You" or her beloved "Bridge Over Troubled Water." He was so excited about his show.

The ovation is huge again, when he introduced his father, who was very happy to be able to tour with his son, after he had been ill.
He also thanks part of the technical team, his girlfriend Ginger Alden, and some family members, before thanking the attendees for being such a good audience. "If you want us back, we'll come back... wise men say, only fools... only fools rush, but me, me... I can't help myself... fall in love with you... "
The whole stage crew comes together on the last line of an emotional "Can't Help Falling In Love": "Take my hand, take my whole life too, 'cause I can't help falling in love with you, 'cause I Can't Help Fall in Love." of... you... yeah... from you... ".

Larry Londin opens the closing Vamp, Joe Guercio Orchestra follows. Elvis after leaving the microphone on the floor, walks greeting the audience, shakes his hand to his audience, gives away the white handkerchief he has around his neck. He didn't seem to want to leave the stage, perhaps his tired and sick body, with little strength, was asking him to stay there a little longer...
Then he takes the path that leads to the stairs coming down from the stage. Joe Esposito comes up on his left side and puts his arm around him. Ed Parker is approaching from the right side. Elvis quickly descends the stairs and meets Dick Grob, together they run towards the limo waiting for them.
What maybe no one knew was that their last breath on a stage would stay there for eternity... "Ladies and gentlemen, Elvis has left the building"... forever. But he will always remain alive within each and every one of our hearts.
His physical body is gone, but the legend was born. 47 years ago today.
He has never gone, nor will he ever, as long as there is a single heart in the world beating for him and his music.
