Let’s face it. Regardless of how this Presidential election pans out, taxes are going to be a big debate. We’ve all heard the saying “what goes up must come down”, and vice versa. This is not a political discussion, but rather an observation.

As this chart shows, historically, taxes are actually quite low. It’s not going to happen overnight,
At the end of the day, as individuals we can’t change this. But what we can do, is position ourselves to take advantage of current lower rates before “stuff" hits the fan.
Most people’s savings are in IRA’s and 401K’s. When you’re ready (or technically when you "have to”) start taking RMDs $$ out - you get(have) to pay tax!
In layman’s terms…whether you’re in your 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, or 70’s, you can "pay now" at lower rates (i.e. on sale), or wait until they rise to who knows how much.

Reach out to me if you’d like to chat.

Should I rollover my 401K from a previous job? Existing job? #RetirementLady #IRA #401K #Roth401K 11/04/2024

Job-changers who have a 401(k) are presented with a series of choices when transitioning:
1. Roll over the 401(k) savings into an individual retirement account (IRA).
2. Roll over the old 401(k) into a new 401(k) account — if permitted by the new employer.
3. Withdraw (“cash-out”) the old 401(k) assets.
4. Leave the money behind in the former employer’s 401(k) plan.
Everyone's situation is different.
I can help you see what's best for you!

WHO KNOWS??
"Here's why the Fed isn't going to cut interest rates this year,
according to one market strategist"
or.........
"The Fed will slash rates 6 times this year as recession spreads
across the US and the job market deteriorates, market veteran
says"

Seriously… not even the “experts” know exactly what’s going to happen in the stock market in the next week/month/year. I.don’t.know.either.
What I do know though… is that there may be other ways to invest without losing money. Will they make you rich? No. But, it could help you from becoming poor, or outliving your money.

One reason Climbing Interest Rates might be Good News 🤓

Annuities! They function as a private pension. They can provide income for the rest of your life. Creating a private pension has become increasingly important because the percentage of workers in the private sector who have a pension is now 4%, down from 60% in the early 80s.

When interest rates rise, that often means better returns on annuities, especially for fixed and fixed index annuities. The third quarter of 2023 saw record growth in annuity sales: $89.4 billion! That's an 11% jump over the same quarter last year. Here's one reason why: recent interest rate hikes.

If you'd like to find out how recent interest rate hikes have affected annuities, or to find out if they makes sense for you, feel free to reach out to me! (Pic of my pups to grab your attention ❤️)

401(k)s are by far the most popular kind of retirement account used by working folks in the U.S., taking up nearly double the market share relative to their IRA counterparts. They are without a doubt the backbone of the world of retirement saving, meaning easy mistakes can quickly harm millions.
Chances are you already know alot about how to use a 401(k) properly, but perhaps not enough about WHAT NOT TO DO.
Our top 5 mistakes:
1) Not matching: A whopping 98% of employers that offer 401(k) plans are also offering a full or partial match, and not taking advantage of that is electing to miss out on free money. If your employer offers a 50% match on your contributions of up to 6% of your salary, and you make $50K, not only are you missing out on $1,500, of free money that year, but $1,500 per year and all of the capital gains and compounding that would come with that.
2) Not vesting: Although an employer match is technically free money, that money is sometimes not available to you until it’s considered “vested” — meaning you’re not eligible to keep those funds until a certain period of time has passed. Sometimes this is instant, but sometimes it takes years. Each employer is different. We understand that sometimes circumstances change and it makes sense to leave a position before that vesting takes place, but if you’ve accrued a significant amount of unvested match funds and the situation is salvageable, it would be worth another look.
3) Not making it a habit: The fire of compound interest burns the hottest when it’s consistently being stoked, not when we just throw on a log every once in a while. Not making saving a habit can eventually cost 401(k) holders thousands of dollars in the long run. As we’ve covered before, even a 1% auto-increase can make a big difference.
4) Not knowing your holdings: Although it seems pretty foundational, the reality is that it’s extremely common for 401(k) account holders to simply not know what they're invested in. It’s often easy to take the “set it and forget it” approach to an extreme here, but this lack of attention and optimization can yet again cost you thousands over the long haul.
5) Not picking the right account type: This falls right in line with letting your account go on autopilot. 401(k)s come in different flavors, all having different pros and cons for different situations. Not knowing the difference between a traditional 401(k) and a Roth 401(k), for example, can end up causing you to choose one that costs you more in taxes.

Love a good sale? Me too! Guess what.....Taxes are on sale!!
In fact, they are a BARGAIN now. (We're not talking about an Amazon bargain either 🙄).

👆Ed Slott, a nationally recognized IRA expert, often preaches that "Traditional IRA's are really just an IOU to the IRS". So what can you do about it 🧐?
👆Prepare! How? Specifically via your Traditional IRA/401K (regardless of your age... in fact - the earlier the better).
👆Get it out at the lowest tax rate and avoid penalties. How do you do that? 👆

Using Ed Slott's techniques, I help people identify their options and invest accordingly.
