This we’d like to say cheers to our volunteers – you support Scouts so brilliantly in communities across the UK. And it wouldn’t happen without you.

To all Groups / Units
Equipment Recall from Vango please see info below.
We’ve been made aware of a product recall on two models of Vango Folding Stoves. The stoves affected are:
Folding Gas Stove ACXSTOVE DAKZ36
Folding Stove with Windshield and Piezo ACXSTOVE DEWZ36
The products have been recalled due to risk of fire, explosion and burns. It has also been identified that the gas hose may degrade over time, leading to a gas leak and possible hose ignition.
With camping season now in full flow, safety should be at the forefront of your planning. Please check your equipment before your nights away activity to make sure you’re not using one of these models.
If you own one of these models, please stop using it immediately and follow government advice.
Many thanks,
Craig Turpie

To all members of the Lambeth District Scout Council,

Lambeth District have already introduced two of the governance changes required by Scout HQ - adopting the new model constitution for the District at the 2023 AGM and using the new model agenda for our Trustee Board meetings.

The next step is to update the membership of the Trustee Board in line with Scout HQ guidelines:

- we need to have at least 5 Trustees, including an elected Chair and Treasurer plus the District Commissioner and District Youth Commissioner
- but no more than 12 in total
- ideally this will include one or two Trustees aged between 18 and 25 years old

Like all other Trustee Boards at all levels around the country we are asked that vacancies should be advertised widely.

District Trustees usually get together for 5-6 meetings a year (on a weekday evening for 90 minutes per session) and for the the AGM which is generally held in June.

All Trustees complete a number of learning modules which you can have a look at on the County website:

Introduction to being a trustee in scouting | South & South East London Scouts (southsoutheastlondonscouts.org.uk)

If you would be interesting in joining the District Board as a Trustee, please put your name forward for consideration by writing to the District Chair by 31 May ([email protected]).

If there are more applicants than available positions then a vote will be held at the Lambeth District AGM on 18 June (save the date; venue to be confirmed).

Elected Trustees will need to apply for or hold a valid Scout DBS (the Disclosure and Barring Check can be applied for free of charge via the Scout Organisation) and take GDPR, Safety & Safeguarding and Trustee Induction online training modules

Please share this note as widely as you can with all Group Scout Council members by putting the letter on OSM, into Group or Section WhatsApp Groups, sharing via email circulation lists etc.

Thank you,

Alan
