What increases the chances of getting a scholarship?📊

👆The main point to learn is that there is no single unique recipe for receiving a scholarship. Each applicant has his/her own path to the desired financial aid. However, there are a few key points that can really increase your chances of being on scholarship lists.

💼 Fully highlight your own professional self with acquired experience, career plans, ambitions, etc.

📑 Literacy and completeness of the application form and necessary documents.

🔍 Your motivation for professional training, the expected result and how you will implement it in your further career is another point that reveals your individuality for the scholarship commission. Do not neglect the motivational letter.

One of the most effective ways to delve into the performance process and gain practical skills is through project work. Creating a real production for a real spectator or another creative project - maximally pumps the student's skills and fills the portfolio.

📄What to expect after submitting the application form?

🤓Once we receive your application, we will immediately review it within a week and send you a letter notifying of our willingness to grant or not to provide you with a scholarship and further instructions.

🕰We work with applications quite quickly, but the timing of the scholarship directly depends on the institution that confirms your participation in the program or event.

Some of our scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis, so applicants have to wait for the application deadline and the commission's decision to expire. For example, the recent competition, where each participant received a scholarship to workshops in Berlin and Brussels and are already preparing for a summer trip🤗

🧐There is still no single point among the creators of physical theatre in terms of its qualifications, but there are three basic characteristics that are key for most directors in creating this type of theatre:

🔹The spectator is also a participant in the performance.
Artists are destroying the boundaries between spectators and performers, expanding the space of the stage by removing the concept of the auditorium.

🔹The next component is Devised performance. Be that as it may, despite the association of physical theatre with total improvisation, a well-thought-out performance is the foundation on which further moments of improvisation and plot are based. The director thinks over the main ideas, plots, moments, references, which should reflect the performance and this is what helps to maintain the freedom of physical theatre, without turning the production into chaos.

💃🕺Before you start creating your competition work, we suggest you do a 10-minute partner warm-up on the technique of physical theatre:

🌕Columbian Hypnosis
This is an Augusto Boal ‘game’. In pairs, A puts the palm of their hand
approximately 10cm from B’s face. As if hypnotized, B must go wherever the palm goes, aiming to keep the distance between it and their face the same. This is not a ‘game’ in which one is aiming to ‘win’; the leader must challenge their partner with different levels and pace, but not to the point that B cannot reasonably keep up.

🌕Push Hands
This is a Frantic Assembly exercise. In the same pairs, B puts their hand out, palm down. A, their partner, puts their hand on top, to which the one underneath – B – pushes up slightly so there is dynamic contact (they must not ‘cheat’ and hold hands). A is the leader and takes the person around the room exploring its space and levels, and stretching B again without trying to ‘win’ by making something impossible for them. Pace and levels should be changed by the leader and both must concentrate on the signals the other is sending just through touch.
After a while, get the person being led – B – to close their eyes. After a couple of minutes, stop the activity and students briefly reflect on how it felt.
