Missionaries used to pack their belongings in a casket to go to the mission field, because they did not plan to come home. Today we can be in the other side of the world in a day, video call our family anytime, and are not reliant on “snail” mail for communication. But the laying down of our lives is still the same - All for Jesus.
Eleven of our key YWAM Leaders were tragically killed this weekend in a bus accident. Five more are in hospital in stable condition and 2 others in critical condition. Several others witnessed the accident from another bus, and were first responders to friends and colleagues. They returned to base without partners, roommates, mentors, friends.
After many years of dedication, service, and sacrifice, 11 sons and daughters are with Jesus. Pray for their family and friends and colleagues. YWAMers raise all their own support, and many now have medical bills, funeral costs, repatriation, and lost passports to replace before they can even go home. The cost of saying yes to God’s call, although worth it all, can be high and difficult.

We are looking for a nanny from the US for our fall Family DTS. If you have a heart to serve a family for three months while they equip and train for missions, send us a message!

We serve the God of the Impossible. We need miracles:
1. Two families still need flight money. They are still believing they can leave tomorrow!
2. One family submitted more documents & are still waiting to hear from Immigration. Pray they will hear TODAY!
3. One family is still believing for a visa appointment this week. Pray they hear TODAY!
4. One family has a visa appointment on Thursday, and are believing they will be here by next week

Our prayer tonight is “Increase my faith Lord”.
I am remembering Loren’s story of going to the airport when he didn’t have a ticket, sitting as close to the gate as possible, and leaning towards the gate - doing all he could do and believing God would do the rest. This is the story of these people. Their faith will transform US - YWAM Chico!
Our school theme this season is 1 Cor 5:17 “Walk by faith, not by sight.”

Our Family Discipleship Training School starts in September!

We are looking for a couple of Nannies for some of the families that have already signed up.

If you or someone you know enjoy working with children and are interested in committing 3 months to a family stepping into missions, we would love to connect with you.

Our Fall Schools are in need of some Nannies for families. If you could serve a family in this way, please contact us for more information. It is a 3 month volunteer commitment (Sept-Dec) to families with children under the age of 5. Nannies are such a blessing to our families! And you can enjoy 3 months in California, making new friends as well as sweet time with Jesus in a faith community!

Have you thought about taking a season to invest in your family? Our desire in Family DTS is to equip the whole family to do ministry together, whether that is in the nations or in your home church. Pray for our outreach teams to all have negative COVID tests as they prepare to leave this weekend!

We are so excited for the doors God has opened and the things He is preparing for this team! Lives will be changed and generations will be impacted because of their obedience.

“We are at the end of our family’s lecture phase of the DTS program and the best way to describe the experience was “a spiritual boot camp.” This isn’t just book knowledge, this is real, honest, raw stories from teachers who are walking it out in their own lives.

I used to struggle with hearing God’s voice and question my identity in Him. I can honestly say, after three months in, I’ve been able to really hear God’s voice, and I can look back and clearly see how He’s led my walk with Him. I’m more in love with Him now than ever.

My identity is much more secure than it has ever been. It used to be tied to status and achievements but now it’s so much deeper and richer. It’s tied to my relationship with Christ.

It’s been neat to see my wife and children grow in their relationships with God and their confidence in hearing His voice.

Alongside Family DTS lecture phase, we run Foundation School for the children ages 5-18. They learn similar topics as their parents in the classroom using many creative and interactive tools.

One of our full time staff Beka taught the children for a week and said this, “Hearing God’s Voice is my favorite topic to teach because there is nothing that compares to knowing that the God of the universe desires to be in constant communication with us, His children. It’s something that is so simple, but gets so sensationalized and overcomplicated that we miss out on communicating with the Lord and deepening our relationship with Him. Sitting with these kids this week and experiencing them hear, for themselves, from the source, all the wonderful things the Lord thinks and feels for them was an amazing privilege! I love being with them for this part of their faith journey.”

“We serve a faithful God. A couple months ago we heard God say that we were supposed to do a DTS. We had no idea where, we just knew this fall! Through prayer and friends referring us we have ended up here at YWAM Chico.

It was stressful at times, packing up, saying goodbyes, traveling across the country, but we serve a faithful God and he provided in every way. We have been connecting and making this base our temporary home and getting to admire a new side of Gods creation (California).

It has been amazing to walk with God knowing He is right there beside us enjoying this journey just as we are! Don’t be afraid to step out, God will place his mighty hands out in front of you and guide you every step of the way- you just need to let Him!”

We know God has so much in store for them during this season, and we are so grateful for their obedience and faith in this journey!

One of our families is in need of a nanny. This is a volunteer position of serving this family for 3 months (Sept 9-Dec 4), caring for their 2.5 yr old. Room and Board is provided. Please pray about if God is calling you to this mission for a short period.
