We had an interesting talk from Kevin Reay about how he started his chocolate making business, The Canny Chocolate Co. He was very engaging as he told us about the ups and downs of his journey over the last 4 years. Then we tasted different types of chocolate, which was a revelation.
Really looking forward to the next meeting of Merryoaks WI. There's going to be a chocolate making demonstration from the Canny Chocolate Company. Remember to bring your pennies as there will be a chance to buy some of their products.
Please come along and join us, even if you're not a member.

Many members enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea at The Three Horseshoes Leamside yesterday, any spare sandwiches, scones and cakes were boxed up and taken home, it was well organised by Linda Macdonald
Superb afternoon tea for many members, at Three Horseshoes at Leamside, we managed to eat most of it, but luckily boxes were given out to take home any spare sandwiches, scones and cakes to feed the loved ones left at home! 🤣 Thanks to Linda Macdonald for organising everything 🍰
Craft group had a great time on Wednesday trying out some bookfolding. By the end they had a very cute prickle of hedgehogs.
Thank you to Lynne Buddin for introducing us to the art of bookfolding. She had an amazing array of intereresting pieces and talked about how they can be personalised making great keepsakes for life's treasured moments. What a wonderful way to upcycle an old unwanted book.

Yet another resounding, successful meeting, our Christmas wreath factory was great fun, and many of us have gone home with a new decoration for December. After the business part of the evening and a quick cuppa plus a biscuit, members and visitors began filling their hoop with fabric in many Christmas shades. Ribbons, bells, hessian plus mice and tinsel were accompanied by knotted fabric around a circle with 2 different circumferences to cover! Kath Turner won the raffle prize, and coins were placed against the most popular completed wreath, Sarah Sedgewick was first with June Robson 2nd. Thanks to Joan our President who is sporting a sore hand with too much fabric cutting in preparation for this meeting! Our December meeting is a Festive Buffet on Tuesday 12 December, 7pm at Neville’s Cross Primary School and Nursery, £4 for visitors. meeting ended at 9pm.
