A bittersweet and exciting announcement ...

Saturday was my last day as instructor at K4K, a job I've had for sixteen years. I didn't have an opportunity to say goodbye to everyone, so I want to do that now.

Teaching you has been the honor of a lifetime. Each and every one of you has taught me something about how to interact with people, how to inspire others, and how to be inspired. I am always the very best version of myself when I am on the mat with you and your kids.

I am fortunate to have started teaching at the age of 12. Not very many people find their place in the world at such a young age. I did.

So why am I leaving?

I am leaving because it is time for me to stop playing it safe and put to work the lessons I've learned from martial arts—bravery, empowerment, courage, discipline, and mostly, unbridled joy.

I am leaving to start my own studio: SoCal Karate Kids and SoCal Tang Soo Do Academy (the adult/advanced program). Over the past year, I have shed many tears over this decision because I don't want to say goodbye to you.

And yet ...

I am the same age my mother was when she did something incredibly brave, and I want her to be as proud of me as I was of her. I want my family—Jocelyn, Avery, Juni, Keir, my mom, and each and every one of you—to see me as someone who walks the walk.

I can't quite say goodbye to you, so instead, let me say this ...

Thank you. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your community. Thank you for letting me share my love and passion for Tang Soo Do with you. And thank you for letting me be part of your life.
