Anesha Dexter
Anesha Dexter is an active performer and chamber musician with a passion for teaching.
What’s understood doesn’t need to be spoken, but It’s been a minute since i’ve seen this guy, flute fam, and one of my favorite flutist, Denis Bouriakov. I am so glad that he is still humble and that he is as kind as he was the day that I met him.
Denis gave a fabulous concert and gave a beautiful tribute to our beloved teacher, WIBB. His performance and tribute brought back many memories of my dear teacher and mother. I was moved to tears.
The tribute to WIBB was very special to me and was much needed as it gave me a sort of closure and an opportunity to share in musical communion the memories that I hold so near and dear to my heart.
Overall, the concert was nothing short of amazing! Throughout the concert and following, my dad couldn’t stop singing his praises lol, “Now he’s good! .. I like him!” And I agree! 💯
If ever you get a chance to hear Denis perform or teach, don’t walk, 🗣️RUN! Lol
Thank you! ❤️✌🏾🙏🏾🎶
Always good to see flute friends & fam! Janice McDonald is an absolute gem and sweetheart! So glad to know you and that I got to spend time with you. Love and appreciate you so much. 🎶❤️🎶🙏🏾
Also, enjoyed getting to know the fabulous Mary Stolper. Didn’t realize that we are flute fam! Loved speaking with you. She knows things! Thank you. 🎶❤️🎶🙏🏾
Here at the CFC Festival 2023 with flute icon and history maker, the lovely, Florence Nelson, who also received a CFC Lifetime Achievement Award this year. It’s been a while since last we’ve spoken. It was so good to see her and to receive words of wisdom from her. Thank you for all of your contributions to music and the world of flute. Keep going ! 🎶❤️🎶 🙏🏾
Thank you Chicago Flute Club and all of their staff for inviting me to perform and teach at your festival! It was indeed a great day of fluting! It was so good to meet new friends and to catch up with old friends. This was a much needed trip and festival. Although it was hard, I know that my mom was happy and proud that I had been invited to attend and would definitely had wanted me to go ahead and be there. I am so glad that I did, especially since I brought my dad with me.
He really enjoyed the long day of all things flute. ❤️🎶Just like my mother’s , his presence was definitely a comfort and support. They both have supported me tremendously in all of my musical endeavors and have traveled and accompanied me to so many concerts, masterclasses, and more. Not just to hear or watch me but to witness and experience many of the great musicians, ensembles, performers, and pedagogues that I have had the opportunity to encounter along the way. What a gift and a blessing they are and have been to me in this life and on my musical journey. I do not nor have I ever taken them for granted. Mother🎶🙏🏾❤️🥲

Glad that I was able to make it to NFA this year! It was good to see old friends and make new ones. It’s always a pleasure to see and hear Alexa Still perform! Alexa’s concert of Valerie Coleman-Page’s music was just wonderful! Be sure to check out Alexa’s new CD of Valerie Coleman’s music with pianist extrodinaire, Evan Hines! ❤️
I also forgot to mention here that I also appreciate Alexa’s genuineness, honesty, encouragement, wisdom, generosity and support throughout the years. She’s a real one, which is a rarity and hard to find. Thank you and lots of love to you. 💯❤️
Here we are Pat, Patricia George! Glad I got this for you are a living legend. Thank you for all that you have done and for all that you continue to do. You have contributed immensely to the flute world. Don’t stop! What an honor to know you! God bless you.❤️
Here with the one and only, piccolo and teacher extroidinaire, Brian Gordon! So glad to see Brian and finally have a long and overdue catch up. I knew that I needed to attend NFA this year because as always God places all of the right people in my path at just the right time and I don’t take those encounters for granted. Thank you for your honesty, for the laughs, and for being supportive of me throughout the years. It is much appreciated. ❤️
More flute family.. here with this beautiful soul Gwen Klassen. Gwen presented a wonderful tribute to our beloved Wibb Bennett. She also gave a presentation that was filled with video coverage of so many wonderful memories and teaching gems of Wibb that she accumulated over the years at the Pender Island Flute Retreat, as well. Those two sessions and the time that I was able to catch up with Gwen were much needed and also a highlight for me this NFA. ❤️
Saw some flute family.. here with the lovely Angeleita Floyd!! Love this lady.❤️🤗

Note: My dissertation is on French baroque repertoire, performance practice and interpretation for flutist(musicians)today, basically. Hotteterre is one of the composers I researched and wrote about in my document.
I also recorded on the baroque flute but just wanted to share what it sounds like on the modern instrument and also introduce a new work that may not be so well known.
Watch the live celebration of life for my beloved teacher, mentor, and friend, Wibb Bennett. ❤️
