Keep an eye on your brake fluid level and get it topped up bi-annually to avoid loss in braking power! All conventional brake fluids (DOT 3/4/5.1) are hygroscopic and naturally absorb moisture from the atmosphere over time, even through a sealed brake system. When the moisture content in the brake fluid builds up to even as little as 3%, the boiling point of the brake fluid is reduced by more than 90°C. When your brake fluid boils, braking force is dramatically reduced. This is why it is so important to change your brake fluid regularly: every 2 years in road cars, and every year in motorcycles.
