Update 4-1: Our much-loved mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and friend, Darla Sachetta, had a major hemorrhagic stroke just over 3 weeks ago. She had brain surgery and spent 11 days in the Critical Care Neurosurgery Unit. She is in the hospital on the Neurosurgery floor in Naples, FL, and has made incredible progress to healing but has developed extensive blood clots in her right leg, which will be treated with blood thinners and a thrombectomy this Thursday, April 4th. Her medical team is monitoring her almost-healed brain bleed for tolerance for the blood thinners but the blood clots are occluding her blood flow, so the procedure is necessary. We are praying for her continued healing and a successful surgery this week.
It has been a very intense time with my mom’s stroke and treatment. She had an extensive hemorrhagic stroke and brain bleed plus some brain surgery for drainage and was in the critical care unit for 11 days and is now on the hospital neurovascular floor. She has made impressive progress towards healing, including mobility and alertness/speech, but has had many medical complications not the least of which has been deep vein blood clots. She had a vein filter put in her aorta to catch any clots breaking off but with the brain bleed it has been a challenge to get the blood thinners she needs for the clot. They are doing a thrombectomy this week to remove the clot.
