For Inverloch locals who are interested in sharing the learning journey into fermented and cultured foods.
A place to share information, local events & workshops, personal tips and experience and potentially some small gatherings or meetups.
GROUP UPDATE
Over the last week I have met up with a couple of other ladies to discuss ideas of how this page could look.
We have so far determined that we would like it to be a place for sharing ideas pertaining to the preparation of home made food including the kinds of recipies your grandma may have passed down. Things like relishes, pickles, sauces, preserves, bread, fermented veggies, kefirs and kombucha. It would be lovely to also share names and contacts for local farmers who sell direct to public any produce that can be preserved, dehydrated or pickled etc
We would like to begin in a couple weeks posting once a week with a theme dependent on the season and holidays.
We would also like for it to be a place to share info on local workshops, maybe arrange to carpool to attend a few events. If we arrange any workshops ourselves maybe we could give you heads up at the right time to plant the veggies ready for the workshops.
Anyway that’s just some ideas for the moment leading up to a meeting next week with the Neighbourhood House to look at options also.
I also have to thank Robin for giving me a sourdough starter and a private lesson to get me started. I’ve messed up twice so far but still trying and also Cheree for getting me a Kombucha starter. So give me a few weeks and I can share the results and instructions etc and forward the favour to someone else.
Having spoken to Bass Coast Shire about utilising the Hub Commercial Kitchen for sessions, I am waiting for further discussions and info next week. In the meantime myself and another member are going to look at acquiring some sourdough starter to begin on bread so let us know if that interests you
