Dirpy dinos done for my daughter. She absolutely loves them π
Yay, I've been well enough to doodle! No migraines for 9 days π And I've illustrated some dirpy dinos for my daughter who is dinosaur mad! I'm so happy I've been able to do this. I'm taking a little break and then onto painting these oh so squishy cute dinos π
Hey lovelies.
I'm so sorry for not posting much this year. There has been a lot going on, including my migraines. They're still not under control. I'm on five medications, wear special tinted glasses, recently had my daith pierced, try to avoid all known triggers apart from one that I simply cannot avoid and it honestly nothing is working and it's affecting everything, including my illustrating. I get little bursts when I'm well but it's just little bursts and I can't work like that and I'm losing motivation and hope at the moment. I wanted this year to be about growth and moving forward with my illustrations and it just didn't happen and I don't think, if things get any better, that next year will be hopeful for this page either. I'm hoping that once my migraines stop being so severe and persistant that I can come back and illustrate for much longer and do a lot more than I can do now.
For now though, please bare with me. I know some view my page from time to time and I'm so sorry I've not posted anything new. I'm just too ill all of the time to pick up my pen and paints. I'm finally under the neurology team but that could take up to a year for them to give me an appt, so until then I'm going to have to grind through it. If everyone can cope with my slowness, then I shall carry on when I can, because I have so many ideas, just not the wellness to carry it all out at the pace that I want to. I'm just so frustrated. It's coming up to my favourite two seasons of the year and I'm so ill most of the time. It's incredibly upsetting not to be able to do the things I love the most.
But it is what it is I guess. I just hope it subsides soon. Its been 10 months so far, bouncing between GPS, A&E and referrals and I really miss illustrating my heart out. I just want one day where I can sit down and be able to be pain free and feel joy again. I'm even in the same position with my photography. I spend half my time bed bound these days, either migraining or fatigued. It's a nightmare when you have so many art ideas but a body that doesn't want to work π
Anyway love and hugs to you all. I hope you're all doing OK π
I'm currently building a website for my finished illustrations to go onto and am creating a blog section where my Sun set cruise blog will be published also, once I've finished writing it up. It's going to take some time to build but I'm very excited to show you guys once it's all done. It's something I've wanted to do for some time π
I managed to capture the beautiful sunset on a sunset cruise I went on last night. It was gorgeous! I also went up the 199 steps to view Whitby at night. Honestly it was extraordinary π
Runswick Bay is such a lovely little beach, especially in the evening, when you can see the ships and boats go out. It is simply magical here π
Beautiful Whitby, as promised π
I'll be going on holiday to Whitby for a week, so I may still illustrate but I'll definitely show photos of the gorgeous place π
What an amazing little competition Wildfriends Designs is giving away. Be sure to check Naomi out. She is such a talented friend π
Said I wouldnβt do oneβ¦ but I changed my mind. # # # you can tag as many times as you want. β οΈ Closed β οΈ
I'm suffering a migraine today and this is all I have done I'm afraid as I'm feeling really ill, but as it was supposed to be International Friendship Day yesterday, I wish every day a good friendship day π May we drink tea and have a jolly good time, rejoicing all the good memories we may share with our friends π
I've spent today working on two pieces. The jubilee piece from June (my migraines stopped me from finishing it but they're OK today-yay) and other piece based on Catherine the Great, but in a whimsical style. Both themed on royalty, which apart from my washing/windy day themes I'm focusing on, I'm also focusing on royalty but in whimsical style, which is super exciting. π

Morning lovelies. I seem to be practicing a different type of art today haha. My kids wanted animal pancakes for breakfast and they wanted cuteness. Did I do it? Sometimes it's tough getting the outlines right, when working with such fiddly little things π π
RIP Bernard Cribbins. Bernard was known on Carry on series, Railway Children, narrated The Wombles, starred in Dr Who and played Jack on Cbeebies Old Jack's Boat, which my kids absolutely adored. So here is "Jack" and "Salty Dog".
Rest easy Bernie. You will be sadly missed by so many people π
I re did this piece as the painting process went horribly wrong on the grass, on the last one. I'm glad it went wrong though because I actually like this version better. More photos for detail π It includes the cute owls from the earlier post (just the new version). Enjoy π "Windy washing day" WIP x
When the 6 weeks holidays arrive and the kids bounce with joy ππ
When there's a cool breeze in the air and you instantly close your eyes to embrace it. Miss Mouse is definitely embracing it. Hope everyone is doing OK with the heat today. We definitely need some breeze around! π
Today maybe a difficult day on Father's Day, so I give love and hugs from me β€οΈ
Progress so far, even if it is slow progress and more migraines have been had. I've even added a little wall picture from Rosie π
I just got on there with Earth day π Happy earth day everyone and what a way to celebrate with a first ever digital illustration. Hopefully it turned out OK. It took several hours to do. I think the earth looks mighty cute thoughπ
Trooper and Garfield all done. I wonder what will happen next? After Trooper curiously boops the easter egg, it looks mighty wobbly! Will it boop onto Garfield? Will they get into trouble? They didn't plan this out thoroughly, did they? π
Garfield and Trooper up to no good with a lonely Easter egg π
This is what I'm doing on Mother's Day. A young mouse giving his mother a bunch of beautiful flowers π
Hey hey, my lovelies. Today marks the day of St Valentines. For some people this is amazing and a special day. For some people, Valentines day is really hard, so please take it steady if today is hard for you π
I don't actually have an illustration to show for you guys. My migraines have literally ruined the past month of me being able to do anything, so instead, here I have a little morning tea, I made for my husband. I just need to make little finger sandwiches, cakes and tea now β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ
Please share far and wide for my wonderful friend Naomi, on Wildfriends Designs, so she can be seen better. Her amazing work deserves all the recognition ππ

About my journey to becoming an illustrator
Hi, I'm Naomi a 29 year old Swiss pet and wildlife cartoonist living in Wales, United Kingdom.
I am a self-taught artist, I can remember asking my mother at what age did I start to create and she answered saying "from the early age of two!" And that's what I have done ever since. It was a bit of an unusual journey for me to get where I am today. Before arriving here in the UK I spent a year living in Costa Rica and whilst there I used to doodle all the animals that I saw living in my back yard... and I'd say there were some interesting creatures living in the tropical forest.
After the amazing year in the Jungle, we decided to move to the UK for educational purposes. So in 2009, I started my 2-year course in Animal care, but all the while I'd draw, I would return home from class, hide in my room drawing till the late hours. In 2011 I moved on to study zoology and animal husbandry at Paignton zoo. After that, I went to Uni to study Illustration, but it wasn't for me. Even though, I stuck it through to achieve my Degree! And I got it!!!
Now I work daily on commissions and I continue to create my images from home in my studio whilst surrounded by all my pets, I couldn't ask for more. The perfect combination.
Well, that's me, if you have any question don't hesitate to contact me, oh and have a nosey at my gallery and visit my online shop before leaving.
bye bye :)
Naomi
Happy Saturday lovelies. "The tiny Swiss Roll thief", as shown in the clip I uploaded yesterday, is in progress, unfortunately, as my migraines and dizziness still keep coming. Being on my phone, pc, working on my illustrations for a long time etc, is causing light sensitivity/dizziness/nausea, which is annoying when I feel so motivated! BUT, I do bring some happier news, which will be happening the next few months, depending on my health and how much I can handle. I've set up "Shuvvie's Creativity Corner" on Discord, for artists, bakers, knitters, crochet fanatics, gamers etc, to be seen and show their talents in discord or via Twitch, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc. You won't be allowed to sell products on there but you can put links to your pages/websites. I felt a group like that would help creative creators and content creators to be seen and heard and to even make new friendships and have a laugh. Once the server is ready, I'll announce it on here, Instagram and twitter and put up a link for you to be invited in, if you have discord. I'm so excited for it! π
