Important words about Juneteenth from Christina Custodio, Author & Speaker

We commemorate Juneteenth, as we remember June 19, 1865, when enslaved peoples of African descent in Texas finally gained their freedom. We remember them. We honor their memory. We celebrate freedom for all.

This is not just a day for Black people to celebrate. Every American can be grateful for this day because it was the day that we ALL became legally free. If you truly take pride in America, then you can also be proud of this.

Many of us have been walking around in shackles, even though our freedom was purchased a long time ago. . . chained to fear, anger, resentment, lack of self worth, unforgivness, and others. We either never knew, forgot, or chose to remain enslaved.

Today, I pray you choose to take hold of what Jesus offers, and live free.

He is for you.

Is worry a well-worn pathway in your mind?

Is it your default…your go-to?

I believed the lie that worry was helping me get ahead of worst case scenarios. Like I was being responsible somehow with worrying about things ahead of time.

It was like I was feeding a mangy dog scraps from my table and the more I fed the dog of worry, the more it grew until it became an unruly beast that wanted to swallow me whole.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. You can starve worry when you feast on worship.

You can choose differently when faced with worrisome situations. It is not easy, but it is possible.

It doesn’t guarantee there will be a different outcome but it changes your perspective. It renews your mind. God changes you as you worship. So go on and feast!
