What an interesting day! The coldest day of the year, clear blue skies and snow underfoot on Blacklaw Hill. Nothing high, but with snow on heather on the hill itself was somewhat arduous. A very cold wind from the north though so it was belay jackets at lunch. And on the way home the auxiliary drive belt broke on the minibus so everyone caught a service bus into Blair, and shortly after our tow truck arrived, so once again the bus into the garage and it was booked in for a service and MOT after the NewYear too. Sue came and picked me up so apart from being a bit later than planned not too bad an outcome. Vegetation with the snow on looked stunning and lovely hoar crystals too.

The first winter walk for more than 2 years! Badandun Hill ( a Graham). Not particularly complex but still an all but unbroken climb and today in the face of a 40 to 45 mph north wind. I even had to put on a mid layer, all but unheard of and compared to my normal base and a shell jacket! Started off as usual sunny, the weather forecast then broke down, with cloud, the wind and snow flurries on lying and drifting snow. Plenty of hare, red deer and vole tracks but only saw one roe deer and a vole. There were a few grouse too.

What an expedition today. Target was the Crock, a nice little Marilyn through some trees on forest tracks. That was until Arwen intervened last year. Tha track up the 'ridge' line to the summits was blocked, ddn't even get to Craigie Law. Despite numerous detour attempts the damage was just far too extensive. So route abandoned and ended up with a rather longer circuit instead. At least there was no wind, clear skies but still it was cold.

The weather forecast was back to front today, supposed to be dry and possibly sunny then rain late afternoon. It started off very overcast then rained, and then once we were nearly off the hill it dried up! Hare Cairn, a Marilyn, not been there for a while, but the mapped path was blocked with Storm Arwen trees so the detour added a fair bit and more climbing! In the clouds along the ridge line and rather boggy underfoot.

Opportunity to have your say in what you would like to see. Bearing in mind the number of residents over 75yrs in Perth & Kinross is projected to increase by almost a third over the next ten years. The increase by 31% - compared to the Scottish average of 25% is expected to increase pressure on local health and social care services.

An interesting session today. Knock of Formal via a meandering circuit and finishing with a visit to the infamous Fornethy House. Slowly deteriorating. How it must have looked to the unfortunate children from inner Glasgow to be bussed to the middle of nowhere, no street lights, narrow dark lanes, dense trees. It must have seemed like gogin to Dracula's Castle!

What a difference a day makes. Sunny, all but no wind, actually quite sweaty! A jaunt up a double headed Marilyn - Creigh Hill near Balintore with stunning clear views all round. The Danish visitors were impressed!

A calm, almost warm day today. Hill of Persie, the first time on a Tuesday and via Hill of Bamyle. Investigated some hut circles which we have not done before.

A new location for a walk today. Or rather a new way to and from somewhere we have been before. Very chill wind, but when in the sun and sheltered was warm. Track significantly not as map and the harvesting made it challenging. But some interesting new views.
