Visited TIS last week to see these kiddos get promoted to TMS! Can’t wait to see them next year in their new school!

We celebrated our 2 seniors this week-Will and Victoria! It has been so fun watching these two grow over the years and they will be missed greatly!👩‍🎓🫶🏼👨‍🎓 Best wishes to you both from Project Outreach and “Coach Everest” (as Victoria would call me occasionally 😉🥰)

Out of about 82 Project Outreach members, 43 participated in Gone Fishin’ 2024…in the rain. These high school students dedicated most of their school day when AP exams and other exam reviews were happening, they gave their undivided attention to students who need constant supervision and sometimes help, and they did this all without complaining. Thank a peer if you see them. Not all the time are their interactions with students/teachers/paras/other adults always positive but they do their best to accommodate and help out.

I love this group and super proud of their dedication to our purpose of Project Outreach!

Gone Fishin’ 2024 may have started out a little wet and rainy but we made the best of it. All the kids caught some fish and even a peer learned how to cast! Thanks to Jefferson County and all the volunteers for a great experience for our students!

This is always a fun and memorable day to see former students walk the halls! I wish I had the time to catch them all and snap pics but the hugs I got today will be cherished!

And to see this guy dressed in his cap and gown just made my heart so happy!

WILL, I will miss you next year! Love you, buddy!

Carla’s Traveling Farm made its rounds to all of the schools for a quick visit. This is one my favorite times to see the kids interact with the animals. Thanks to our dear friend, Carla, for taking the time to spend the day with us!🥰s

Last visit to the Hoover Explore Playground for the school year! THS students and peers had a blast!

Best Buddies Friendship Walk was a success. This is our second year participating and we had a great time. My hope is to get more of our special friends to join us! We were so happy to have Samuel from TIS-Shanks’ class and Julianne from THS-Sparks’ class to join us!

Mark your calendars for next year and plan to come and walk with us!

We were able to squeeze our playground fun with MVES in between the rain showers! Peers were awesome and our friends had a blast!

The Best Buddies Friendship Walk is almost here! We have at least 15 peers/parents/special friends signed up so far to join the walk. Please consider registering and walking with us this Saturday, April 13, in Homewood.
Use the link below to join our team. There is no cost and you don’t have to be from Thompson to join. (We have at least 2 Oak Mountain peeps walking with us and one South Carolinian!) We plan to arrive by 10:45, participate in the opening ceremony at 11:00, and walk at 11:15. Feel free to arrive earlier and stay later to enjoy all the other festivities that will be taking place.

Almost 60 Project Outreach Peers assisted me to make United Track and Field Day a success. Not one teacher complained about the lack of help from the peers they were assigned. I saw peers make leadership decisions without being told. I saw patience and compassion from peers to athletes. I saw true dedication to our group’s purpose. I love this group and cannot do any of our trips/events without them. So if you’re a parent/guardian/family to any these peers, be proud for what they are doing with our club!!!🥰

What a day! United Track and Field-Our biggest event of the year and craziest to plan but with a support system like we have, it’s always a success! There is no way to thank each person individually but I hope you all know how much we appreciate the efforts you put into this day. Special thanks to my righthand man, Harold Mitchell and co-host, Jessica Brown! And to our wonderful athletes who work so hard!

Creekview, the Warrior Center and peers had a great time with beautiful weather Wednesday at Hoover playground.

Altitude with THS a few weeks ago! Needless to say, some of them were a little sore in class the next day from all the jumping!🥰

Our 2nd TMS group, Mrs. Hendrix’s class, visited Hoover yesterday! Not sure who had more fun, the kids or the teachers!! (Thankful for the extra pics taken by our teachers)

I missed posting last week’s trip with one of our TMS groups, Mrs. Katie May Browne’s class! Such a fun but chilly day!

An early Valentine celebration with our THS friends and peers! A couple of crafts, some dancing and of course, eating! Peers did an amazing job planning and running the party to make it successful !

Let’s Play with TIS! We had the best time and PO Peers were the best! Shanks’ Super Heroes had a blast and we were all ready for a nap afterwards!
