Sentimental Sunday!
Seems like yesterday this girl was dancing her heart out with Evolution Dance Experience. While many years have passed, the confidence and kindness she learned in that studio will forever remain in her soul.

This past spring, I was introduced to a completely new (to me) type of sports photography - team photos. Stepping out of my comfort zone was intimidating, but I ended up having a blast with these girls. Some of my favorites are of the goalie. This girl is amazing. Fierce, talented, and spirited - the sky's the limit for this one.

Just a picture of a lacrosse goalie? Not a chance. Her face says it all. This is a girl who knows she's about to do something special, she's going to take people by surprise and make them say "WOW!!" No one cares about the outcome, only the courage and heart. At the age of 9, she's fully aware that she's about to do something that not many goalies do. She feels good about it, she feels proud. She has been coached to take chances, to know that if she takes a risk, she might fail, and that's just fine. She's been told that the only thing that matters is that she has a blast, and she believes it to her core. She knows trying and failing is a million times better than never trying at all. She knows she hasn't stopped every goal and hasn't been on her game every second. She's playing in heat she's never felt. She's hot, she's tired, she's ready to be done. Though, most importantly, she knows she's fierce, she can keep going, she can and will play harder and she knows that everyone cheering is cheering for her.

I love taking pictures of just about anything. My absolute favorite? Sports! Before December, I stuck primarily to football and baseball. Last winter, I was introduced to lacrosse and found yet another sport I love photographing. I was honored when I was asked to capture the talent of a local middle school girl's lacrosse team. These girls are fierce and play with passion. The pictures just about took themselves.

On May 31st, I was able to photograph my first community event since moving to the Carolinas. This was one of my favorite things to do in Illinois. Library events, parades, events with my Daisies, May Crowning, and school events... I loved it all.

This Ribbon Cutting was extra special because it was an event for an organization that is very near and dear to my heart, Lady Pride Lacrosse. Celebrating its 6 month anniversary, Head Coach and Owner of Laxlife Carolina, Zac Winder, along with his family, cut the ribbon under the Waxhaw Water Tower. I am incredibly excited to see where Winder takes this league. Between Winder's approach to coaching and its rapid growth in its mere beginnings, Lady Pride is surely destined for great things!

Only a few more days until I can take a walk down one of my favorite streets in the world! Who can name this place?

When we decided to pack up and move to the Carolinas, Waxhaw was one of the first towns we visited. Its picturesque downtown was bursting with southern charm and we instantly fell in love. Waxhaw is the oldest town in Union County and has a rich and vibrant story. Constructed in 1941, the Waxhaw Water Tank remains one of the most recognizable symbols of this historic southern town. While no longer in use for its original purpose, today, many community events take place under the water tank. Last week, while photographing the ribbon cutting for , I looked up and saw it in a completely different way than I had before.
