This material, named Cygnus after the constellation, captivates with its resemblance to draped fabric sprinkled with dots that echo the night sky's wonder. We're delighted by its natural granite characteristics—not only is it stain-free, but it also withstands heat with grace, a testament to its durability. Countertops are nature's canvas. As an artist, the freedom to create within the bounds of a canvas is how I express myself, and I find a similar joy in selecting slab materials for our home. Each piece tells a unique story, a blend of color, texture, and pattern that can transform a functional space into a showstopper. We found our perfect match, a slab that speaks to us not just as a surface, but as a piece of art.

Big windows in our home do more than simply fill our space in the morning sun; they are our canvas to the world's wonders. We designed the homes windows with the hope of capturing not just the breathtaking sunsets but also the celestial dance of the stars. Have you ever stood under the vast night sky and gazed upon the Milky Way? Experiencing it for the first time here was nothing short of magical.

This place has a unique way of reminding us of the beauty that surrounds us, offering moments of awe right from the comfort of our home. Defining a space can also be the frame for which you experience the perspective of nature's beauty.

A home is so much more than its floor plan. We delved into the volume of our space, tailoring each vertical area to our needs. Essential hidden elements, such as the heater, pantry, and broom storage, were prioritized to ensure seamless integration into our daily lives. Let's face it, life gets messy, and sometimes we're not in the rush to tidy up.

In one specific section of the home near the stairs, we faced an easy decision. To maximize our living space, we chose to close off the staircase, allowing us to position a TV strategically and incorporate additional pantry space—because for us, there's no such thing as too much food storage.

In our log cabin, we made a conscious decision to favor natural materials over man-made ones wherever possible. The journey began with selecting the perfect slab material, which set the tone for the home's interior finishes. The choice was clear when it came to the kitchen, and from there, countless other decisions were influenced. This single item became our beacon of inspiration, guiding us through the design process. Have you ever found one piece that inspired an entire project? It’s a great place to begin.

I'm truly grateful to have walked through the floorplan with our builder, who pointed out several improvements that could elevate our home even further. One notable concern was the refrigerator's placement right next to the stove. Not only was it a tight squeeze, but also, placing a heating appliance so close to a cooling one goes against the manufacturer's recommendations and could void the appliances' warranties. Additionally, this cramped arrangement might lead to the fridge jutting out a few inches beyond the wall, encroaching into the hallway. Have you noticed any similar layout challenges? How did you resolve them?

I appreciate you joining us on our journey. We reached out to a builder and found a great guy who was a dealer for . We selected a plan from a catalog that would meet our needs, focusing on the cabin's location on the lot, its views, and the spaces we needed. We aimed for a cozy yet open feel, ensuring the design embraced us while allowing light and views to pour in.

We also looked for a solution that had storage spaces that could be worked into the plan. We took the Durango style plan and modified it to make a solution for us.
