Last week, I got to visit the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C. with my family! I must say - what you see in the video is probably just 1/15th of what is in the museum because it’s SO big and there’s so much to see, learn and experience. I didn’t want to film everything because I didn’t want to spoil the experience for anyone who’s looking to visit. We also didn’t have enough time to finish checking out the rest of the museum because they closed at 5pm! 😭

That being said, we’ll definitely talking another visit sometime in the future - it was THAT WORTH IT! 📖

What does that look like for me?

Spending a little more leisure time. Romanticizing my self-care habits. Celebrating my achievements. Cherishing my pastime activities. Feeding my brain. Continuing to practice my gratitude. Filling up my love bucket 🤎🤍🤎

Yet again I come across another liberating REMINDER that so many of the curious questions, the painful questions, the frustrating questions that we ask, we have the answers within ourselves. Many of the questions we carry, our intuition knows the answer to.

Recently, I AIM Community Season 4 members had the opportunity to ask questions to our guest speaker of the evening. Those questions made me think of more questions I had in mind. And then more. And then more.

But I won’t need to tell you what the questions were. The answer to those questions came down to my lack of SELF-CARE.

I stopped investing in my ALONE TIME. In my BEAUTY TIME. In my READING TIME. In my SLEEPING TIME. I stopped doing what I do to take care of ME. Essentially, I stopped loving myself.

This is no ones fault but mine. I let go of my self-boundaries. This happens, for the most part within a lot of women. You hear it often that moms let go of themselves after giving birth. Or when you’re in a relationship, you let go of your self-care habits. We are nature born caregivers.

My consistent investment in Personal Development is what causes me to have these breakthroughs and growing moments. I’m adamant about it and will continue to share these real life moments for you all to understand why I am and why it’s worth it.

Now… I graciously restore my self-boundaries and communicate them with my loved ones. 🤍

Please don’t compare your life to mine. Please don’t compare your life to others.

Those like myself intentionally post content that displays happiness, positivity, inspiration. And once in a while display rawness, vulnerability, and bring awareness on topics that are taboo or hard to talk about.

I promise I struggle too. There is absolutely nothing that I have in my life that you can’t. Just like I see that in others.

Comparison is a thief of joy. Any change in life that you want to create begins in your mind. Take care of it 🤎

I’m so proud of us. We’re different. We started our relationship development since we were 4th months into this. We were in a room learning about Gottman’s work surrounded by married couples of 10+ years.

We do the hard work that nobody else wants to do. That’s why we’re different. We are a model to so many of our friends & family. Our loved ones look up to us. Not because we want them to, but because we’re so respectful, vulnerable & open in our relationship that so many get to learn from us because we love to share and teach.

Before this morning I lost all the momentum I had since the beginning of 2022. I was on a roll! Then I took a flight and threw myself off.

This morning I shift my attitude and realign with my goals and outcomes because that’s where Momentum is rebuilt.

And even if I haven’t heard it enough, I can still tell myself how freaking proud I am of me and what I’ve accomplished in my life.

And in case no one has told you, I am proud of you 🤍

Lately, I’ve been experiencing a whirlwind of emotions. Emotions like: sadness, anger, gratitude, content, isolated. More negative than anything else. I’ve had events happen in which I can pinpoint why I’m experiencing this.

But the events are not the cause of my emotions.

I’m consistently having to remind myself that people and life events will never ever have control over my emotions. I am the cause of my reactions. I am the cause of my emotions. I am the cause of my life and how I live it. I chose to feel sadness, anger, gratitude, content, isolated. It still gets challenging though…

But I would rather live a life of choice than a life where I permit others to influence how I feel as a person. There is tremendous power in both. Choose who gets the power….☝🏼

Lack of awareness, communication, understanding and agreements can definitely end a lot of beautiful relationships…

We are 36 days into 2022. What have you given yourself each day? What are you giving yourself in the next 329 days? Today I give myself the permission to observe and process. 😶

👉🏼 Law 4: Always Say Less than Necessary: Say little and be ambiguous, leaving the meaning to others to interpret. The less you say, the more intimidating and powerful you are.

👉🏼 Law 9: Win Through Your Actions, Never Through Argument: Demonstrate your point rather than arguing. Arguing rarely changes anyone’s mind, but people believe what they see. They’re also less likely to be offended.

Just because you couldn’t make it happen last week doesn’t mean you can’t this week. Your goals have an outcome and it’s up to you to make it happen. There’s power in that. You choose 🙌🏼

👉🏼 A someone once told me “Everything doesn’t happen for a reason. Things just happen.”

💭 “Everything happens for a reason” was a saying I used to always go by. If I failed or if I was rejected, I repeated that affirmation. It helped me feel better by reassuring myself that nothing was wrong. I also repeated it whenever I reached a milestone or something incredible happened to me reminding myself to trust the journey and that the good always follows.

That someone brought up the scenario: Well what if someone passes away? Do you still say, “Everything happens for a reason?” Well, no I do not.

🤔 This made me ponder on the expression and if it was ever the right thing to say to people.

“… Things just happen.” Yes, circumstances do occur. And in unfortunate instances, you can only give space for someone to heal and process. But imagine how much more meaningless life would be if we didn’t apply a reason to every life event. I’d personally find it empty and purposeless. There’d be less inspiration in the world. People would shy away from their creativity if we didn’t add meaning to things. Innovation wouldn’t exist and life would be dull.

🌿I personally wouldn’t want to live in that kind of world and so yes, I would like to live my life knowing everything happens for one reason or another 🪴

Let this one sit as we enter 2022 💭
